Bass **** INOP
Hey guys just finished up my custom build by Sik auto restylin, they installed everything but my bass **** why I don't know. But now when I plug in the **** it cuts off the bass. could it be the way they wired the amps? Pics of my install for those that haven't seen them in my other thread.
the journey
The top still fits in the trunk.

With as much cash you gave them for the install (by the way it looks great), that would be a question for them! Of my prior experience with JL amps (I still use them), I never used the bass **** that plugs into the amps. The bass adjustment is more of a "Q" adjustment than a gain. I have always used a PAC LC-1 in between the AMP and HU for bass gain.

I have no idea why that would happen...
Is it a volume **** with RCA connectors type deal? Or is this something that goes into the amp itself?
I ask because I was going to install one on my car, and I have the volume **** box with RCA connectors. I found myself always adjusting the bass due to different music styles.
I guess next up would be where did you try to install this **** at?
Also, how do those speakers down at your feet work out?
Install looks great.

The **** is a JL audio **** so no reason it shouldnt work. It is direct plug and play, it conects directly in the side of the amp by the old home phone cable lines. The only thing i can think of is must be the way they wired the amps. As for the speakers at my feet, I hate them, its where i rest my feet when not on the clutch.
Speakers in the kicks are a great place in most cars. I think the Vette is a car that you need the dead pedal to rest your foot.

10 W6, I called the installer who is an hour away he didn't know what the problem is. I called my local JL Audio rep who said this type bass **** wont work with my setup and wants to sell and install a different type for $75 plus $40 for installation.

Pull the HU and install the PAC LC -1 in the sub rca line. 10 bucks on Amazon. I removed the lighter and installed there. Better yet...I can prob send mine to you for free with the mount since my dsp controller handles the duties now. Have to stop by the sbop. I'll find a pic if you want it. Console and hu removal is easy.

The last car I sold, I pulled out all my Alpine gear, leaving all the existing wiring in the car and installed the new owners Rockford gear. Everything worked except the base ****. I was told it was just a telephone cable, but as it turns out, there was something different about the alpine bass **** wire that I had originally left in the car. I swapped it out with a regular phone cable and it started working.
Later I tried the regular phone cable with my Alpine system and it wouldn't work either, it only worked with the original Alpine cable. Same as you, the base would disappear.
Point being ..... Maybe the cable isn't compatible with the JL stuff.

Brad
