I'm looking at a project with a Raspberry Pi and a camera on my 2010 C6 GS. I'm ignorant about what is in that black box on the C6 windshield. I'm sure it has to do with OnStar, but it looks like it supplies NSEW directional info to the rear view mirror. Is there a GPS in there? Is that information hackable, maybe from the wires that go into the back of the mirror, like a MirrorTap gets power for a radar detector? Where can I get more information?

If you're talking about this black box, it's just the OnStar antenna. If you remove it you won't have any reception for OnStar, but everything else works fine.
