What's the optimal crossover setting for a Kicker Comp VR 10" Sub?
I'm gonna be putting a Kicker Comp VR 10" Dual 4-ohm sub in a 1cubic foot sealed enclosure. The amp I'm gonna be running is a Rockford Fosgate 301S, which has an 80hz low-pass crossover. On my Deck (JVC KD-LX300) I have a selectable subwoofer crossover as well. I can set the crossover on the deck to 80hz (same as the amp) Is 80hz optimal for a 10" sub, or would something like 120hz be better?

80 is good. It will give it some kick yet keep it from sounding muddy. I have my subs playing only from about 50 and down for SQ. When you get to 120, it will start playing alot of midbass and the woofer will begin to sound muddy and you will be able to localize it real easy. Keep it about 80 and you will be good.

80Hz?
Depends on the music. Yeah, it gets easy to localize at 120-ish Hz, but if you like to listen to Bass Mekanik at full tilt, no, cross it at 150Hz else you won't hear half the notes. And when it's loud enough to make vision blurry, you don't know where YOU are comming from, let alone the music! ;)
For most "normal" (Rock, Country, Pop) music, 80Hz is good.

80hz doesnt mean that the sub wont play over 80hz. thats just where the slope starts. Just take a guess.

About 20-50 Hz is where most deep base is heard. I have yet to find a song where the base did not come through clear and deep with the settings in this range.
