Best Looking C5 Aftermarket Stereo?
I'm not very pleased with the OEM Bose stereo in my Z06 but haven't found a system that looks like it belongs in the C5. Everything I've seen just doesn't blend in with the interior like the Bose setup. Has anyone found a system that looks like it belongs there?

I looked at those Alpines and still don't think they blend with the C5 interior. I want something that looks like it is a stock OEM unit or at least looks like it is supposed to be there. Most aftermarket units look like they are aftermarket units.

Hopefully, you see the Irony in that
Currently, we are going through the Fast and the Furious line of HU's, with blinking lights and bright displays. Oh how I miss the old school days.

Oh the old school days...like when you paid more money for a HU unit because of its DA converter and extra rca outs....maybe a built in sub control. The days of Eclipse and the Alpine 7909. Now we get dolphins and downloadable pictures and walkman has a better DA converter in it.
As for the original question. There are a few companys that make a din and half radio (that is the size of the factory radio) and they fill the hole nicely and look ok but other wise you are paying alot extra for a little larger radio. If you want something that looks good you are going to have to go custom install. There are a few guys here that have some really nice custom radio installs. I am sure you can find pictures of them and find somebody that can do that for you. That way you get a nice HU and good looking dash.

It doesn't have to be a din and a half sized stereo, just one the looks better than what I've seen. As they just look like they don't belong in the C5.

Shylor, if you love the look of your stock Bose HU, then you can keep it and add something to enhance the stock Bose sound.
1. Add a pair of tweeters (check out thezep.com for CDT 1" tweeters which are selling for only 50$ free shipping) to your door handles since Bose does not come with real high tweeters.
2. Add a stealth box and sub. This I can help ya since I build great boxes at a unbeatable price :D
With those 2 added, you will please with your Bose system.
Just my 0.02$

Re: Best Looking C5 Aftermarket Stereo? (Kale)
OK, check out what I did with my McIntosh HU - very old school. I CNC-milled this billet HU adapter and integrated a parametric EQ into it. Yes, it's a bit dusty, but when my neighbor came by with the digital camera this morning, I wasn't ready. Rest assured it will be cleaned up before final install - probably next week.

I agree. The Nak's are about the best looking as far as old school goes.

Thanks for all your help but, all I wanted was something that looks as if it belongs in the C5. Not one that looks like the OEM stereo. Most of the aftermarket stuff I've seen for far look to generic and plain for my interior.

Take a look at Eclipse also...some of their older stuff is very sweet. Clean and simple along with being an excellent preformer.

I could not agree more!! I have had the previous model in my 98 and it blended well.
The new line uses the same colors (not to flashy):

lemme get this straight... you hate the sound of the bose, but you don't want an aftermarket head unit?
Good luck. what you are looking for does not exist.
As mentioned earlier in the thread, the trend is for bling-bling. Fancy graphics and crap sound... unless you count pounding bass... but even that sounds like crap.
I recommend the 7998 cause it looks hightech without being ignorant. The buttons are large and easy to press. The face, when extended looks professional, not cheesy.

Re: Best Looking C5 Aftermarket Stereo? (bogus)
One thing the stock radios have going for them is they seem to be inherently easy to figure out. You don't need a 1/4" manual to figure out how to run them. The stock radio in the Vette looks just like the radio in every other chevy.
I've got a 7998. It took me a little while to remember how to change the clock back an hour but the AI net makes it simple to add accessories. The fold out face gives it a high tech feel that the Corvette has.
I here vrumvrum makes an ok mount to help the aftermarket units look a little more stock.

I hope I haven't infringed on any patents :chevy
Don't worry, though, I am not trying to muscle in on your market

Try this one. It's a panasonic touch screen. The screen has near infinite number of colors. The crossovers are a little weak for the price but sounds just as good as anything else. It even uses the same amp module as the 60W alpine units.
