Tech heads, how do I wire remote door locks on 1986....
This ones for the techs,
I have the aftermarket key fob remote door lock kit, to lock and unlock my doors, wiring it up in my 86 is a piece o' cake however, if I use it to unlock the doors the factory alarm will go off if I open the door with out using the key on the outside doorlock to turn off the alarm.
so how do I wire it up to work?
Thanks,
P.

You need to turn off the factory alarm with your aftermarket alarm. There is a light green (negative) wire in either kick panel you can use. Some alarms have a wire made to disarm the factory alarm. You can use that wire or you can use the unlock wire. If you use the unlock wire make sure you use the negative trigger before your relays.
That should solve your problem. Post up and let us know how you made out.

The kit I wish to install isn't an alarm it just locks and unlocks the the doors and pops the hatch with a key tag remote,
I don't see a wire in it's instructions that says it's to switch on/off the factory alarm, so I'm, still lost,
Thanks, P.

How do you wire the door locks into the factory wires? Is there an online wire diagram for this system? You can give me a call if you like....I can proably talk you through it on the phone. 727.514.3348

From what I can tell you will need to use a relay. Connect number 85 to the green wire comming off of your unit. 86 and 87 connect to ground. Then connect 30 to the light green wire in your cars kick panel. That will convert the 12v output from your keyless into a negative output to turn off your alarm.

So if I understand correctly all it takes is the lt green wire getting a ground pulse and then the alarm won't sound when the door is opened,
I assumed it took a contenious ground to the lt green wire to keep the alarm from sounding,
thanks,
P.

No it should only take a ground pulse. Do you know how to test the wire to make sure you have the correct one?

I looked at the cars wiring diagram and the lt green wire IS for switching off the alarm, it goes from the door key switch to the alarm brain,
I can test it but if all it takes is a momentary negative signal I'm sure the way you said wire a relay will work,
however, the remote entry brain being generic also has wires for cars that have a master door lock with switched negative the opposite of chevy,
I'm thinking the wire from the remote entry brain that sends a ground pluse to unlock those makes of cars that normally would not be used on chevy could be used to turn off the alarm in my case,
I will bench test this idea,
thanks for all your help,
P.

Yeah if it has a negative ground outputs use the one for unlock and you are good to go.

I'm looking for a system to wire up to my car as well. Any updates on this topic in the last 11 years?

Heel & Toe
I don't pretend to know anything about the factory alarm. I do know that aftermarket electric door switches, 12V, can be purchased in pairs for less than 410. Their throw is about 2", and it is POWER each direction, and they are strong. Using Sheetmetal strips and Sheetmetal screws to mount them, they are certainly able to operate most any automotive mechanical valve or switch. They need a +, and a – wire. Such a setup could be mounted to unlock your trunk. Sounds like there is no electronic trunk lock, ever in your car, so run a pair of wires.… I think, If a guy had an exhaust Y pipe with a mechanical flap valve, (like a throttle body or carb butterfly) I think one of these could operate the then; electronically operated exhaust splitter/dump valve. – for the price of the valve.
