1973 - 1977 Corvette in 1/18 scale
I have been collecting 1/18 diecast for many years now and have recently noticed there are no 1973 - 1977 Corvettes in 1/18 scale anywhere ... the reason I cant find any is because no company has ever made them ... is this pissing off anyone else ... yes the performance of these years is forgetable, but we cant pretend they didnt exist ... there are several changes in these years:
73-New vents on side fenders...new hood design...no more chrome front bumper
74-No more chrome rear bumper...new body color taillights bumber cover...last big block Vette
75-New bumper pads ... Last C3 convertible
76-Last Stingray ... new hood design
77-Last tunnel roof coupe
We wont get these car unless we ask for them ... we have to show there is demand for these ... please help me by contacting companys like Hotwheels, Ertl, AutoArt, etc and requesting these models get produced

The chances of seeing any of those done is slim to none. Maybe ten years ago when the hobby was stronger, but it's on life support now and the cost of new molds is more than most manufacturers can afford to take a chance on, especially for the limited collector base who would want these. Ertl is gone and Autoart would rather pump out tons of Eurocrap than cater to the desires of U.S. buyers. The '74 & '75 are available in 1/24 from FM/DM, but even FM is throwing in the towel on diecast cars. There's a remote chance a company like Maisto or Yat Ming might do one or two of those years eventually since they have their own factories, but I wouldn't hold your breath.
I'm not trying to be a stick-in-the-mud, I'd love to see every year made in every color in high detail, but the reality is, I think what we have already is about it year-wise. Auto Art is just now releasing the 70's they announced years ago, along with a '54, but to my knowledge they haven't promised anything else for the future.

Don't forget that Danbury and Franklin Mints have them too. They both offer 1975 verts and Danbury has a red 74 454 coupe that's an awesome diecast.

I know there are several styles of the Corvette in 1/24 and smaller ... but I only collect 1/18 ... combining them would look stupid on my shelves ... I refuse.
Companies wont make these years unless they know these is a demand ... thats why Im asking for all your help to contact the companies

Thanks Bob, I hadn't heard that. They did a good job on the 59's, I guess they'd be playing it safe with the same mold for a '58. Can't say I'd be excited about another '86 , but at least I'll have several more years to not be excited!
