Quick Compound Ref. Guide for Newbies: (You can jump up and down the pad compounds within Carbotech's offering without worry of rotor transfer layer compatibility).
1521 - Street Compound, the transfer layer is compatible with any of the race compounds. (OK to use on the same rotor as XP/RP compounds).
AX6 - Autocross Compound, has some noise - high torque and low temp threshold. Although used on street, not recommended by manf.
XP8 - Entry level track pad, usually for lighter cars but can be matched with higher ability drivers that don't over use the brake pedal. Commonly used on rears. If used on street, you will see dust and hear some noise. Not recommended for street use.
XP10 - Mid level track pad, higher temp range and bite than XP8. Usually upper limit for use in rear on most cars depending on tire compound and contact patch type/size. If used on street, you will see dust and hear some noise. Not recommended for street use, especially not in colder areas.
