Default Who's doing Pocono North on 9/1 with C.A.R.T.

Hello All,

I see quite a few Corvettes have signed up for the Pocono North event on 9/1. How many of you are planning on going? The C.A.R.T. club runs a great event with limited entrants (50) you get a ton of open, un-crowded track time along with a time trial and something called a team relay which is a lot of fun. For details go to www.cartct.com all this for $175.00 and they even give everyone a free t-shirt and trophies for the time trial class winners. Hope to see you there.

95Jersey,

I like your attitude. Are you talking first in class or "Fastest Time of the Day"

Depends on who shows up... (that means John can show up, but not participate in the time trial )

I'll have brand new tires for this event and much new HP compared to last year...

I came in 1st (overall) in 05, it would be nice to have a repeat.

I just hope the car holds up. I fixed the suspension problem finally, replaced a bunch of rotors, but I still have the sticky clutch. I only shift in 2 places on the North Course, so I am crossing my fingers...

A combination of a coupe things...I broke a rear tie rod, fixed it, but the car was still very loose. I checked the sway bars, control arms...and couldn't find the problem.

Finally, I got the car up on a good lift and proceeded to check through every bolt we could reach, and the bolts that held the engine cradle and rear end in place were ALL loose...It was the damnest thing.

Actually, I am glad I used better judgement and called it quits once I felt the problem.

Anyone running sticky tires should definately be checking these regularly. I usually have the car looked at thourougly once a year, but after 5 years of abuse, I may need to make that a more frequent visit.

Either of you guys is capable of taking the "FTD"

My poor little stock 02 Z06 doesn't stand a chance.

Actually I've had some health issues this year and my driving has suffered because of it. I might not race on 9/1 but I'll be there if for no other reason than to see which one of you walks away with "FTD"

Brian

PS. I'll be at the LRP event on 10/2 too.

You mean the cam? I don't know why they would loosen the cradle... especially in the rear? You wouldn't remove the motor, just remove the radiator and bumper. Both front AND rear were loose.

It felt fine when I left the shop, and I did a couple events following with no problems.

The only thing I can think is that high HP and sticky tires simply took their toll We are talking about an 01 with 50 HARD track days and then throw another 80HP on a tired chassis...

Man, I could use a nice new Z at this point

Rear went 3 times, 2 clutches, about to go on a 3rd...with only 40k miles.

Actually the last rear was replaced in 04, so that couldn't be the problem
