Default My current dilemma: OEM yellow '02-'04 springs or Comp 918's w/ stock cam.

Randy@DRM and Andy at AA said stock springs should fit my application... so I ordered a set along w/ new valve seals and some spare locks. I'm in the midst of a very large project!

Part I
Part II

The issue... now all my local guys are saying to use comp 918's and to upgrade the pushrods and that putting factory springs in is a waste of my labor. Randy said the yellows have about 5lbs more seat pressure than the blues and that's really all I want.

I guess the real question is are the oem springs of an inferior quality? Will the 918's provide more relaibility? I say this but I have over 63k on my stock springs w/o issue. I always let it warm up to 150 oil temp on the DIC before flogging it.

So... before I start doing all this... proceed w/ oem yellows or spend the coin on 918's and hardened pushrods?

I don't want to overspring it for no reason.

I think you're still using your stock cam aren't you? Since it only has
.525 of lift compared to .550 in the 02-04 Z, I think the '02+ springs would be fine. The T1 guys routinely reset their limiters to 7k but I don't think spring failure is a big issue for them. I expect they're replaced pretty frequently, though. I used 918's and Ti retainers with my small cam and they worked great.

Yeah I'm using my stock '01 cam... so it sounds like the yellows will work perfectly.

Stock springs. Looks like you are turning into a pimp rather than a racer anyway with all of your bling new body panels!
