Default C5 Bushing Options...

What are the available control arm bushings for a C5? I know of 'Vette Brake Products' poly bushings, but that's all I've really seen. Are there Delrin bushings out for the C5? Have any of you tried them? How is the noise? How long do they last? How bad is the install? Etc.

My car still gets ~5k street miles a year but I don't mind suspension or road noise (my '99 Z/28 had heim joints throughout and that did not bother me).

Thanks for any help!

Did you order already? A few of us are interested (Z0 SIC and myself in this thread, but also a few of our other friends) perhaps we can get a GP going.

THE VPB kit is suppose to be the best and most complete kit, but is the most expensive.

Oh it will be noisy...I don't love the noise, but I can live with it as well, I'll just never be able to sell the car to a normal person.

I've heard from some the VBP "poly-graphite" bushings aren't all that bad. But like you I don't mind the noise anyway. I'd just rather go all the way and do Delrin if it's feasible.

I called I thought they were Delrin but they are poly bushings like the VBP bushings. Delrin as I know it is hard like the Hardbar shift *****. That is what I thought it was not poly, that I already have.

How noisy is Delrin? Is it a squeek sound (like styrofoam rubbing together) or just clunky like heim joints?

The VBP set is a ridiculously good deal. I have no idea how they sell it at that price. Obviously Hardbar could do a Delrin/stainless bushing kit but it would cost at least 2-3x more. Delrin is very hard and would be inevitably noisier no matter how tight the tolerances are. C5's and C6's need to have spherical components so it would consume a lot of CNC machining time (time=money), since there are 16 bushing sets per car.

I sent an e-mail to VBP's sales department asking about a GP on the poly bushing set. I also asked about the PN for the swaybars... I like getting that information onto a forum so others can search for it in the future as well.

Their online catalog is not very user friendly, and doesn't state whether or not the item is for a stock C5, Z51, Z06, etc. Just has different sizes. 25mm, 36mm, etc.

I and two of my friends are ready to order them now... I've put together GP's for cheaper things before. I did a GP for the LT1 Meziere water pump through Thunder Racing back in the day. Normal price for that was $209... these VBP Poly bushings are $250.

Even if we save $10 people start to come out of the woodwork for these things. Never hurts to try.

Delrin has very little/no compliance. It will not work well simply because of the way alignment is done on these cars. For example when the arm is not square in its mounts like when moving the rear eccentric outward to gain negative camber or some positive caster. If the arms were moved equally at the front and rear bolt and totally square it would work, but then there would only be a camber change. In the rear arms only one eccentric is used for this and that would pose a problem with delrin. There is a modular design possible, but no one is producing it right now. Beyond the VBP one would have to install monoballs for any further benefit at this time.
