Default 3 days at Buttonwillow, end Sept w/Speedventures

Well, I hope it is cooler than last year but really not too big an issue.
Sept. 29/30 and Oct 1 with three different configs. Sat will be 25 CCW
if I remember the message board correctly which gets the high HP
cars going like rockets, even my stock engine C5 gets past 130 on
the back straight. BW will teach you plenty about your car and
yourself since it combines technical with high speed and not a lot of
walls. But, there are places to take it nice and easy. Speedventures
has a top notch timing system if you want to see how you are doing.
http://www.speedventures.com/9-29-2006_event.asp
Hope to see more than the two Corvettes now signed up, Sat. usually fills for this weekend if you wait too long.

I have not signed up, yet, but I am 99% certain I will be there.

I am just trying to get this Saturday and next Friday with Speed Ventures under my belt out at Willow Springs. Plus a week from Sunday I am running the POC Short Track Series at SoWS.

Oli, have fun at the Willows but you might want to look at the length
of the list already signed up for BW, looks long to me but could be
some people for only one day. Hope to see you there as I'm still
expecting Bobby to make it in his mobile home.

I'm planning to sign-up too. Just waiting for Aaron to confirm SV members cancellation policy, as I'm waiting on a date for shoulder surgery

Joe,

The policy is on their web-site.

Default Another Corvette has signed up ... Me!

I just signed up for all three days.

Since my last track day several months ago, I've decided to start using race tires. So I've bought a tire trailer, a hitch, wheels in 18x10.5 & 18x9.5 sizes, and a set of scrubs from John Berget Racing Tires. The wheels and tires should arrive 9/5/06.

I'm just hoping the scrubs will have enough rubber left for three days at BW. Looking forward to seeing you all again.

Bob, good to see both you and Joe at the track again. I appreciate you both leaving me a the lone ranger in stock by going to race tires, now I know I won't catch up. Looking forward to getting on BW again.

Never forget that a great driver can beat a great car. I haven't driven on any track in several months, so I'll be very rusty (slow) for several sessions. I also know that race tires can spin out with much less warning , so I'll be driving tentatively until I begin feeling comfortable with them. You have a good chance of being faster than me -- at least for the first day.

Thanks for the nice words but no great driver here. If only it were that easy and I too have been taking a break from the multiple days per month I was running end of last year and early this year. The company got bought out and then I got paid off and I'm beginning to notice that the balance is only going down now. Then again, I'll believe the taking it easy approach right up until I see you disappear in the distance going up the esses with all that grip.

I just signed up for all three days, but I will most likely only go to two days... not sure which two, yet.

I signed up for Saurday last nite.

Today at WSIR I had steering issues.....I think the steering rack installed at GM last week is bad or my power steering pump is going bad or over heating. In high sped turns after 5-6 laps the steering will feel stiff/hard so that I didn't feel very comfortable if you know what I mean.

So if I can get it resolved I will see you there

Howie, I had PS issues, same hard feel and it turned out to be two things that might not apply. I have after market oil cooler in front of the Z51 PS cooler and one of those braided lines rubbed a spot in the PS aluminum lines. Not enough to leak any volume but seems it was enough to reduce pressure in the system. I used plastic tube to suck out old fluid and put in new, worked great for a few weeks, which is when I found the divit in the PS line. Replace PS cooler and new fluid and no problems for several months. From checking the level at the track I can say it gets super hot and I'm guessing it should be replaced every so often.

I don't have PS cooler. And have run much hotter days. It certainly was a disconcerting feeling. I still ran albiet with less speed and more cautionn in the turns.

I'm hoping GM will see something they missed or did not tighten. Joe thinks its the PS pump.

Will be trying my best to see you guys on the saturday event.

Good luck with getting it fixed, Howie.

Looks like there are ten Vettes there for one or more days. What look to be a couple of C4's, four C5's one on streets and 3 on Race rubber, 3 Z06's with 2 on Race rubber and one C6. Now we just have to get somebody in a C6 Z06 to join in and maybe a midyear or shark and it will be a great show.

I am sure Terry Free will show up with his C6/Z06 on race rubber.

Well, up to a full dozen Vettes with one full C4 race car, a couple other C4's on streets, four each C5's and C5 Z's mostly on race rubber and one C6. Only four of us have posted here and I recognize one of the others so hope we see some new folks trying out BW. Already looking forward to getting away.

See you there

Joe

Doesn't Aaron have to limit the size of each group ????

$200 for one day of parade laps will not be cool........
