Default Welding worries.

I'm welding in a 4 pt. Should I pull the ECU/PCM? I know that some muffler shops weld on anything no worries, some shops clip some kind of jumper on the battery and some Corvette guys say pull the chip first. Any thoughts? And if I should pull it, where is it and how do I do it.

Play it safe, disconect the computers. After seeing one of the local shops fry one in a botched welding attempt on a roll bar install, it's the safe thing to do. It's time and safety VS $. Check out the price of a new or used computer.

Disconnect the battery (both terminals), and you will be fine. The computer is not grounded via it's housing. I weld on the race car all the time, but the battery is disconnected via a kill switch before I start.

I'd be a bit more worried about the fuel tank or it's crossover line myself, depending on where the feet of the main hoop land.

I'm taking the gas tanks out.

Thanks for the info on the battery.
