Default Just got back from Mosport..What's a good lap time?

Well I ended up getting FTD and breaking my class record for SSU by 4.5 seconds

There were a few quick cars tthe but pretty much me and Scaryfast (he didn't run time trials) owned the place I ended up posting a 134.6 in my stock 2003 Z06 with Nitto NT-01s everything else in stock from including brake pads.

I was faster than every class record minus the open wheeled class So I thinking they weren't very good. What is a good time for that track? BYW it was my first time at this track 2 day.

I thought about doing this event at Mosport but I ran with COMSCC last month at Mt. Tremblant, I couldn't beleive how many Spec Miata's showed up and only 3 Corvettes.

Ken, sounds like you and Eric had a good time. Wish I could have gone.

Miaugi, Most of the ex-Corvette guys in COM (at least the ones who wanted to step up to SCCA racing) have switched to Miatae in the last few years for the simple reasons that they're cheap, quick, easy, disposable, and did I mention cheap. We started running ours in 2001.

Mosport is a ***** track (or as Lou G says - a "man's" track). It's all about how well you convince yourself to keep your foot to the floor. It's a rush, but I still prefer Mid-Ohio, even though it's not as fast overall.

Mosport has great elevation and a huge back straight (although it's uphill, it's best to bring some HP). Most of the corners are long sweepers with lots of time in between to get back on line if you exit poorly.

COM strategically placed Miatas and Mustangs all the way down the back straight for Ken and I to slalom through. Unfortunately I kept sucking them up into my radiator, which made the car get hot

Here's a link to the LGM in car from Mosport last year. It's a good ride, but frankly you don't get a sense of the elevation from seeing it on video. It's much more impressive in person.

Yeah Tim and I both took 2 seconds off our spring time but for some reason when I leave that place I feel like I forgot how to drive. If I never saw that trck again I won't be disappointed

L98,

I assume you were at the COM event.

How many cars were there. Did they have open track on the first day?.

I was at the first COM Mosport event on June 12. They had open track and i stayed out there for over an hour at a time. The best time i've ever had. I seem to run better there although i do let the Miatas go by on the straight as they are faster in the turns. Sometimes i can hang with the C5s in the corners so i'm surprised if you would be faster in the turns than a 2000 - 2400# car.

My 75 has about the same HP as a miata.

Yeah it was a Coms event, me and ScaryFast were actually pushing the Miatas through the corners. The faster Miatas were entering faster but I would catch them by track out. We were running abvout 10 seconds a lap faster than the other C5s out there. Again it wasn't a NCCC event so the talent level in the higher powered cars wasn't there.

I went through 2 full tanks of gas and could have gone through 3 after the time trials they had 2 1/2 hrs of open track. Which I did none of.

I got some great Video, I'll post in when I have time to go through it

Since they repaved it is so much nicer than before. There are some fast C5 guys that have run there so your times are bound to be slower but you gotta love coming up that back stretch past the kink and up the hill to turn 12 where all of the spectators are standing and know that you are flying and this is where everyone gets to see cars go off I know I have been in that movie before

So what times are they running? I saw 148 on the heads up and could have stayed in it a little longer most of the time it was 144-145

No, the top of the straight at Mosport.

Pancho must have been talking about NL since there are only 10 turns at Mosport BTW I didn't know there were 12 turns at NL either

Mosport is very fast & smooth it's a ***** track but not a scary track like NL COMS ran it twice this year you should join us next year it was $330 for two days and only 50 cars.

I'll post a video as soon as I can
