Default New NASA-PIR Track Record - TTR 9/9/06

We ran with NASA at Phoenix International Raceway yesterday
(9/9/06) with a bunch Team Arizona Corvette Racers. Shirl, Ken, Brian, Vinnie, John & Pete. Jon S. came out to lend team support. The day had its ups and downs with Ken Gerhart and Terry Free (California C6Z06 TTR car) getting tangled up in the first session (both had light body damage) and engine damage on Vinnie's car. None the less the day ended on a very high note when Pete Creek, driving Shirl's 'Black Mamba' Corvette with front slicks borrowed from John Nowak went out in the last session and set a new personal best PIR time and also taking out the TTR track record as well... Pete's time was 1:07.9xx against the old TTR track record of 1:08.1xx. He had to beat some very determined competition from the Porsche crowd... We hope the record will stand, but Terry Free in his highly modified TTR C6Z06 was running right on the old record in late sessions... He will get another chance to beat our record today but whether he does or not, Pete's performance in the Mamba was ledgendary to watch... We will be running PIR a lot next year and we will get more chances to lower (or recapture) this record...
Congratulations Pete..... YeeeHaaa!

Terry's car has headers and good shocks. That's it. Highly modified, far from it. More like a great driver.

Yes, I went back to PIR this afternoon and watched Terry break our record... He is definately a great driver and I offer him my sincere congratulations... I spoke with him at length and he knows we are all having fun here. I will definately be gunning for his record, and I'm sure he will also do his best to make sure we don't get it... That's what this is all about, right...
