New 3.1 at MSR Rocks!
Alot has been posted about the new section of MSR here in DFW, and I finally got to drive it first time this weekend with the folks from The Driver's Edge.
There are some areas of pavement that have broken up, and some hefty seams, but in general I LOVE THIS TRACK.
At first I was quite intimidated based on what I've heard and read posted, and it's true, there are some places where going off could hurt, and much of the new track looks like it is not oil pan friendly if your not on the road. That said, actually driving the track was not nearly as intimidating once I got in a few laps and learned the track.
It's a blast. Has alot of character, and really rewards good driving (I'm no expert but can definitely tell the difference between a corner well driven and one not so well driven). The old 1.7 was pretty forgiving with all the sweepers (obviously not as fast if you make mistakes but you can get away with alot).
Any videos just don't do this track justice. The elevation changes make you feel like you're in a roller coaster, but at the controls! The hairpin is a complete 180 turning up a hill and you literally climb about 3-4 car height's through the turn! Fun!
And there are some hill crests where all you see is hood and sky at 60 to 70 mph (didn't check exactly). I can tell you it feels like you are putting yourself in the hands of a higher power when you crest that hill And I consciously checked that corner station for a yellow flag every time
Anyway, just figured I'd post. I'll post some video and times when I can. Anyone know any good times for the 3.1?
Anyone else in here out there this weekend? There we a few vettes, not many...

I was the red Z06 in the Green run group. I had a blast on the course. Someone timed me at a 2:59 but I couldn't get a complete lap in without finding a train somewhere. I had a great time!

I was there also in the blue run group. It was easy to distinguish my car from the rest as I had probably the loudest 02 MY Z-06 out there. I was told by some friends that 2.42 was a great time for the 3.1.
yellow01-- what run group were you in??

Were you parked across from the clubhouse? I know I saw (heard ) your car for sure
I just pulled times from my video. My best lap was a 2:33.9 run on Sunday Session 3. I was sliding around like crazy so overdriving my ability a little bit on that run though. My consistent times w/o traffic were 2:35 to 2:37s.
