C5 Racing Seats
im looking into racing seats and i wanted to try and find some to sit in before i buy. i dont know anyone that has the ones im looking at (sparco pro 2000, evo 2, kirky probably 17 or 18, others?) so im wondering if there is any either somewhat near akron, oh; blacksburg, va; vienna, va; or somewhere in between that would let me take a quick look and sit in them. tia,

I have a Kirkey Road Race Deluxe. Apparently I don't like easy project though. Have the seat mounts on order and aluminum seats require seat back braces which is fine by me since I have a 4 point roll bar.
Big fan of the Kirkey!
Live in Nova if you want to check it out. I may be in blacksburg the weekend of the 7/8th.
Regards,
Tony

Our seat rails will work with any of the side mount (Sparco, OMP) or NASCAR (Kirkey, Butlerbuilt, HRP, etc). They are available from Vetteworks, Phoenix, or us directly.

Gary (Hardbar) did a great job on the design. Vetteworks has 4 sets in stock.

Just installed a Cobra in my C5. Tight fit in car but worth it. I went with the Cobra because it fit my fat a$$ the best (38") and I'm just over 6ft. Total cost; seat and all brackets for bolt in opperation was just under $1K. If I had the time, I could have made the floor brackets and save $100.
Have pics if interested.

Answers to questions;
As of now, the race seat mounting bracket does not clear the OEM seat belt mount. I think with a little work I can make it work. Shorter people, 5'8 or so may not have a problem. (seat will be farther foward)
The seat must be placed hard against the tunnel and slightly turned CCW for the sholder (left side wing) to clear the door. If I did not point this out, you would not see the offset. (very slight, about 1/2")
Head room, about the same. My butt is lower to the floor than in stock seat but I'm setting more up-right.
Seat and hardware are from http://performancespeedtech.com
Ask for AJ.
I ran the car for the first time last weekend at TMS with the new seat and a new helmet. I made the mistake fitting the seat without using my driving shoes or new helmet. The new helmet is larger and hits the back of the seat, bummer. I'll need to try to tilt it back one more hole and move foward one hole. Other than that, it worked super.
TIP...Do NOT plan on using a race seat for an every day driver if you are AARP approved! It's a pain getting in and out!
