Champ Car schedule for 2007
#3
Link isn't working for me.
After they took the Milwaukee Mile off the schedule, there weren't any ovals left. I wonder if that was by design or just how things turned out because the IRL now races at Milwaukee. I think that the IRL and NASCAR have that covered, so there's no need for ovals in Champ Car IMO.
I'd like to see more permanent road courses though instead of these temporary street circuits. I'd at least love to see Laguna Seca and Mid-Ohio back on the schedule, especially now that the Busch series is going to race in Montreal instead of Champ Car.
I understand what Kevin Kalkhoven is trying to do though by bringing the race to the smaller untapped markets and since they don't have a track, they have to set up a temporary street course.
I'm just thankful that Road America is back on the schedule and that it's going to be a double header next year with the ALMS. That should be a great weekend!

I'd love to see Miller Motorsports Park on the schedule and have another ALMS double header. The 4.5 mile track would be great for Champ Car. That would be a nice substitute for Mid-Ohio. I'm sure that it would be a very physically demanding track in a Champ Car with all those turns.

run later in season and no Australia where it ends this year right? Looks good I really like Champ car again. New cars and more teams should be a good season. I wouldn't mind 1 or 2 ovals for a change of set on the cars.

I don't know why I can't get the Champ Car page to load.
Anyway.. I ran a google search and this is what I came up with. A lot of these look interesting. Assen, Oschersleben, Mont-Tremblant, Zuhai....
Last time CART tried to expand to Europe, they went oval racing. I couldn't understand why they were doing that. I'm so glad that they are doing road courses. For 2008, I'd love to see some ex-F1 circuits on the schedule too like Suzuka. I heard that F1 is not going to run there after this season. That's one of my favorite tracks. I'd also be in heaven if Champ Car ever ran Spa.
I'm liking this schedule! It's not perfect, but I'm pleasantly surprised.
APRIL 8 -- Las Vegas (street)
APRIL 15 -- Long Beach (street)
APRIL 22 -- Houston (street).
MAY 20 -- Zhuhai, China (road course)
JUNE 10 -- Portland (road course)
JUNE 24 -- Cleveland (airport)
JULY 1 -- St. Jovite, Canada (road course)
JULY 8 -- Toronto (street course)
JULY 22 -- Edmonton (airport)
JULY 29 -- San Jose (street)
AUG. 12 -- Elkhart Lake (road course)
AUG. 26 -- Denver (street)
SEPT. 23 -- (TBC) Assen, Holland (road course)
SEPT. 30 -- (TBC) Oschersleben, Germany (road course)
OCT. 21 -- Surfer's Paradise, Australia (street)
NOV. 11 -- Mexico City (road course)
NOV. 18 -- Phoenix (street)

I'm glad to see that the ALMS is teaming up with Champ Car to compete against series that are owned by the France family. That's what they need to do instead of competing against themselves for viewership.
