Will a 315/35/17 V710 fit a stock 9.5 Z06 wheel?
I have a full set of 03 Z06 wheels with Kumho V710's on the back, 315/35/18, and I have been offered some free 315/35/17's for the front. Will they safely fit on a stock ride height C5? This is primarily an autocross setup where the car will see some full lock to lock.

It's difficult to mount, but it will work. I used to put similar sized tires on my ARE 9.5 wheels. Again, the mounting is difficult...but hey, for free tires, you have nothing to lose by trying.

Chris - is there any danger of the tires coming off the rim under hard loading? Or are you basically safe if you can get the tire to mount on the rim?
A buddy of mine wants to use some of my 315 scrubs but also only has 9.5" wheels.

I ran my old C4 for years and years with whatever rubber I could get on those aluminum ARE wheels and never had any issues. I mounted many of the tires myself and some had some serious sidewall mounting angles , but I never had any problems on track with tire failures, etc. I doubt you'll have any issues...but it would obviously be better to use 275s or upgrade to at least 10" rims.
We run 10" front rims in T1 and can easily mount 315s on there.

Thanks, that's helpful.
He is in process of deciding whether to buy a better track car or continue to use the current one, so he doesn't want to invest in new rims until the decision is made. He usually runs 275's, but I only had 2 of those and lots of 315's, so he was hoping to use the 315's to get in one more event in this season. Damn budget restrictions...
While we're here, I have another question for you. How many heat cycles do you estimate you get out of a set of 710's before they get hard?
I have a set I've run several times this year that have plenty of tread left, but they're clearly slower than they were when new.

Actually, I have 315 GS-CS on front 9.5" rims right now. As soon as they are corded, I'm going back to 275's. Braking is improved, but cornering is a little weird feeling... lap times are down though.

Generally speaking though, after about 5 heat cycles, I wouldn't use them to run up front at the National level. Once past 5, they drop about .5 or so per lap. After about 10 cycles they lose another .5 and they seem to stay there until they cord.
A lot of this depends on what track they are run on and how hard you slide them around, but those are general guide lines. If you're not racing though, pound on them til you see cord, then get some new shoes.
