KUMHO V710 users. Let me ask you something?
I just got a set of 710's on stock size wheels for my 2002 Z06. Question is: for road racing, what is a good pressure to start at and what do most of you run them at???? TIA

On a warm day (summer time), I start mine with 26#'s in the front and maybe 25# in the rear. On colder mornings (fall & spring), I increase those numbers by 2 or 3 pounds.
I try to keep them in the mid 30's (34-36) when they get hot on track.

Keep the hot pressure below 40 and you'll be fine. My starting pressures are lower though... I normally run about 22 or 23 in front and as low as 18-20 in back for certain tracks. Man, are you gonna love those tires!!!!!!

Thanks
thanks for the replies. I am going from Nitto 555 RII's to these and just looking at them I think they are faster.
One more thing: How many track days are you guys getting from them and did you heat cycle them first or run them right out of the box???

I just did 2 days at Watkins Glen over the weekend. I set my cold pressures at 27 front and 25 rear. The ambient air temp was ~59 degrees. After my last session I checked the hot pressures and the were all 33 lbs except for the right rear which was at 30. WG has 11 turns of which 5 are left handers (3, 5, 6, 9 & 10; turn 5 is a combo of 2 rights and a left). I was running 315/17 710s on all 4 corners.

I might try a lower cold pressure to see the difference. What hot pressure are you getting to. I was starting around 26/27 and getting to around 34.

At Mid Ohio with NASA a few weeks ago, I started with 26#'s in the fronts for a session. The tires were brand spanking new. The temps were in the low 60's and the track was cold, with little/no rubber on it. The tires were terrible! The understeer was absolutely dangerous. I've run 710's for a couple of years and always start them at 25-26#'s and never had any problems, but this time these tires were almost undriveable. The rollover was very apparent and didn't get any better in the session as they warmed up.
I put 29#'s in them the next session and they were terrific. They were back to their normal feel. BTW, I always use the same tire gauge.
I have no idea why they reacted like that in the first session. I attrubuted it to cold ambient temps and cold track. I'm going back out with them this weekend, it's a little warmer, and see how they do.

I just grabbed a set of Goodyear GS-CS to try, what pressures do I want with these babies?
I'm used to running my 710's in the 22 - 24# range, but I'm guessing these will want higher pressures?

Hey jody, was that the 295's or 275's that were understeering the first time, had you done that before? A lot more sidewall there. Like jody and everyone else I am usually 27 front 25 rear and and try to finish around 35-36 all the way around.

Amazingly, it was the 275's that did that. I've never had that problem before.
True, the 295's have a lot more sidewall and I ran them higher because of that.
BTW, did you get the DVD?
