Default Same question as last race...What's our disadvantage?

What advantages has Austin Martin been given for this race, or what Pentalties are we running with?

We're running the same weight, but I think we have a larger restrictor plate.

Sorry. Larger as in more restriction, not bigger hole. :-)

When the two cars are equal in weight and AM are still a little more TQ.

In my mind the Vettes need a slightly smaller restrictor and get those HP and TQ numbers back just over 600 to where the AMs are.

But did you guys notice? AM won the drivers championship, Corvette won the manufactures championship. Every one wins, everyone has braging rights. Hopefully both teams come back next year.

gkmccready & AU N EGL, you two are turning my head around and
I'd like to clear this up.

Until now, if someone said smaller restrictor, I would have understood
him to mean smaller inlet area. A larger restrictor would have meant
more inlet area. Is your convention used here just for this thread or is
it common in the paddock?

AU N EGL, is it fair to say that Aston Martin & Prodrive will likely
determine whether both teams participate in '07. My view is that
as long as AM shows up, Corvette will, too. But that Corvette
would not come out just to run parade laps by themselves.

There is recent news about Prodrive developing a rally version
of the AM
. Prodrive has a long history of success in that field.
"Lately, much of their focus has been on their winning ALMS
Aston Martin effort. Now, they’ve combined those programs in
offering the Aston Martin Rally GT.

As of this past weekend.

ProDrive has said they will wait untill the new 2007 rules come out to determine if they will return.

Pratt & Miller and Corvette Racing do not have a contract for 2007 and beyond yet. Pratt & Miller are building 4 new C6rs. the current two and two of the new C6Rs are going to Europe.

Typical silly season with no one wanting to make a commitment. I am sure they will all return.

Smaller restictor means LESS restriction, Larger air intake hole.

Larger Restrictor means MORE restrictions Smaller air intake hole.

Typical rules makers, dont want to make it easy to understand

The A/M's have been the faster car all season regardless of which combination of weight/restrictor has been thrown at both teams (look who has the most polls, this season or last for that matter). The fact that Aston has not won more is a combination of fragility and bad luck. That has been the main reason for the outcry on this forum. There was nothing wrong with the initial formula other than to slow the Vettes down so the A/M's wouldn't have to push to the breaking point (try as you might, you can't legislate luck). This saves the smaller team huge money in developing their car to re-engineer those items that break. Both teams were very coy in post race about if they would be back next year. The possibility exists (remotely) that there could be no cars in GT-1 next season. The presure is now on IMSA to put a formula on the table that will bring both sides (and others) to the track next year.

AM'S only started winning after the rule change to slowed vettes down. Why in the world is it fair to change the rules to accomodate 1 team or another, and thereby tilting the scales in that teams favor ALL THE TIME.Astin martin needs to stop whining and race like a man with what they got against the vettes head to head.period.NO WEIGHT disadvantage to the vette's or anything.Screw AM if they can't do that.If they can't build a car that holds up without breaking under regular race conditions, that's their problem not team corvette!

No Aston Martin=No competition for Corvette=Everybody Stays Home.

BTW, they have been FASTER than Corvette from the begining when they were built to the same rules.
