Mounting Hot Lap
#2
Melting Slicks
I had someone who had done several do it in minutes. Used a wire to
pull some zip ties through the center A/C vent and put the display right
above the radio where it is easy to see. Wire goes out the bottom, in
the glove box and then out the door side to the moulding at the A pillar.
Then he zip tied the receiver mount to the sun visor arm. I have also
seen several people run the wire past the shifter, through the center
console, out the back hatch and then use tape for the receiver on the
deck lid, removing after each day on track.

I'll post some pictures of how I have mine mounted tonight.
I tried the zip ties throught the A/C louvers but it bent the louvers and I was trying to avoid that.
I now have a piece of aluminum that I bent to about a 120d. angle and zip tied that to the passenger "Oh, ****!" bar. I wrapped high density foam around the aluminum so it wouldn't marr the finish on the handle and the bend lets me see the display very easily.
Depending on the track I have the receiver bungie corded to either the driver or passenger sunvisor.
This works real well and it has never missed the signal beacon and is very easily removed.

BTW, looked at the zips used for the center mount to the vent and he
used multiple zips so that instead of a loop it has square corners and
the pressures aren't at the corner. He looped three through the back
of the vent with the wire and then put the one on the front and slipped
them all to just the point where they are only tight enough to hold it
in place, not much weight.

Yep...works fine. I just make sure that the transponder is about level with the receiver that is mounted on a tripod on the side of the track.
If I find that someone else is also using a transponder like mine on the right side, I have another piece of Velcro on the left side of the dash and it takes 10 seconds to switch sides.

Here's how the display is attached to the passenger grab bar: (not that the aluminum bracket is angled towards me for easy viewing)
Here the receiver eye is mounted to the driver's sun visor. It would attach to the passenger sun visor the same way:
