Corvette Race Team to Europe?
In the back part of the Oct. 23rd Autoweek is a story that the factory Corvette team might switch from the ALMS series here in the US, to its sister series in Europe for 2007.
Autoweek states that the attempt to balance performance in the GT1 class has been a PITA for the Corvette Team (and many of its fans).
So, Chevrolet is "investigating" sending the Pratt & Miller team (Corvette Race Team) to campaign the cars in the LeMans Series in Europe.
Seems they want to stay in ALMS so they can do the 24hrs of LeMans. Too bad the Rolex 24hr is not the format for Corvette. Sure was fun to go and watch them in FL the end of Jan.

I love to watch the Corvette race team as they are now, and would like to see the team continue racing (hopefully televised events).
Congrats to the team for another championship

There are already privateer Corvettes in various series in Europe.
P&M are building C6.Rs for 2007. The 2006 C6.Rs will likely be sold.

Its all a mind game to try to get the ALMS on the side they want.
Both them and Prodrive know that the ALMS needs both of them and they are both threatening leaving unless they get what they want. IMSA is in a bad position right now trying to make both happy.
However, in the end, GM isnt going to go to Europe, it doesnt make sense for them to go to Europe and race against their own customers. We'll see the yellow Vettes running around Sebring in March...count on it.
