Default FS: 1972 Corvette IIB/BSP autocross prepared car

Hello all, up for sale is a 1972 Corvette autocross coupe. This is a turnkey vintage race car with many original extra parts. 1972 was the last year for chrome bumpers front and rear. It's a very fast, and competitive car, and in the few times we've had it out with the NCCC this year, it's been in competition for overall FTD.

Here are a few details about the car:

Engine/Transmission:

355 c.i. small block
LT-1 balanced bottom end
Lunati cam
2.02 LT-1 heads
LT-1 intake manifold
Holley 800 double pumper (recently rebuilt)
Factory LT-1 carb heat shield/spacer
K&N air filter
Holley electric fuel pump & regulator
Fram high performance fuel filter (recently replaced)
Accel HEI distributor
MSD box with rev limiter
Taylor plug wires
Hooker side mount headers
Dynomax racing mufflers
Canton racing oil pan
Accusump system
Solid motor mounts
Corvette finned aluminum valve covers
TH400 transmission with manual valve body
3300 r.p.m. stall torque converter
4.56 positraction rear end
Original radiator recently rebuilt
Engine built to the max of NCCC Group II specs

Suspension:

Daytona front coil springs
Fiberglass rear mono-leaf spring
Carerra adjustable shocks
New brake rotors all around
New front calipers (severe duty)
Braided steel brake lines
Fully adjustable heim-jointed suspension

Interior/Exterior

Custom pinned long hood with open cowl
Lightweight fiberglass seats
New driver's side G-Force racing harness
Padded roll bar
Fire extinguisher
Autometer tach

Spares:

Original block, heads, and crank
Original seats
3.90 positraction rear end
2-sets of 15x10 Centerline Autodrag wheels with old hoosiers

As well as being a great autocross/road race car, it has also held the NCCC IIB National drag record at one point in time. This car has a lot of history behind it!

Asking $12,000 for the car only, or $15,000 for car with all spares included

Email: gfoster852@hotmail.com
Phone: (515) 233-2373

The car is located in Ames, IA (about 30 miles north of Des Moines, IA.)

Yep, it's a 350 that's been bored .30 over, so unless my math is incorrect... it should come out to 355 cubic inches.

Wish they would let us do that in IIE. I never had an appreciation for the C3's until last sunday. Definately a riot to drive.

Would you worry about temps in that car on a road course? How hot does it run after 20 minutes or more track time? It's beautiful, BTW. I only just stopped my wife from calling ya'll on it. She likes C3s.

I think in group 2 , you are allowed at least a .060 overbore. I think it is greater than that actually. .060 over =360 inches and a considerable compression gain. Compression=power across the board.

There are some things on this particular car, that would [I]not] be B/SP legal, but regionally you would probably be alright.

Old cars are cool, I am glad I have been able to keep my B/SP '72 LT-1 car all of this time. I believe I saw this car at Putnam Park NCCC event this year and it is nice.

I thought for a long time that I had cooling problems on tracks, but it turns out that once I put in an accurate gauge, there were no problems. I might seen 220* at a track once this summer, but that's the worst I've seen since the new gauge. The old gauge would read 250* after just a few laps.

You can go 30 over in IIE. Ask me how I know. You can't run 1.6 roller rockers though. (1.5 is good though) Ask me how I know.

Sounds like I got the rules between NCCC and SCCA crossed up a bit.

CCM had an autocross up here, and I was trying for a perfect points score in the club, so I ran up here. All of the other Michigan people were not competing for a points position within CCM or are running for national points.

Well being in the car business I had to work the last weekend of the month. I also had a chance to run Chris' 69 at a local event on sunday. I wanted to hit Peru but I must say driving a good running C3 was an awesome expirience. I have alot of respect for you guys that fly in the C3's. Different animal but still a Vette and a blst to drive. I look forward to catching up with alot of you guys next season!
