Kinda slow in the racing world, so I just did this, and what a rush! I have to do this again, anyone want to get together an event?

I have done that before in Las Vegas. What a blast, pardon the pun!

I wonder if they still have it in LV?

Yea, you have to wear earplugs, knee and elbow pads, helmet and jumpsuit, all provided. It is hard to just get stable and figure out what makes you do what. It is definitely a lesson in aero effects and they said that this is the fastest vertical wind tunnel in the world at 300 MPH capability. When we (my wife and I) were doing it, it was at about 120 MPH but there is a guy that is constantly adjusting it. I just had to ask about the tech stuff, and they said they have 4, 300 HP electric motors doing the work. Wow, a 300 HP electric motor is a REALLY big motor! The instructor is in there with you and he is essential until you get enough experience.

Nothing really, but since we go at least 120 it certainly gives you an appreciation of what the aero effects are. Brake cooling ducts, small spoilers like on the front wheel well of a C6Z, all look very small and trivial, but wow you can really see how powerful 120 MPH is much less 150 or more. Besides, not much racing going on.....

I did this locally in Perris, CA. It was a blast. The competitive skydivers use it for training. www.skydiveperris.com

I am pretty sure there are several military HALO/HAHO guys here on the forum - not to count the sportdivers. I liked it much better when my uncle paid for this....

The flying part is part easy - it is the landing this system saves you from having to worry about...
