Default Calling on C6 guys with slicks

I need to buy some track wheels and tires. The 19" rears are hard to get slicks for at this time. If you have slicks, whats your wheel and tire combo? Thanks in advance!!

Note: Some of these answers are C6 Coupe and some are C6 Z06...

MattW_VA (Coupe) is running 4 C5Z Rears with VRL Slicks.

Most others have gone with CCWs 18x10+18x11 in the non-Z situation, simply because that's what CCW recommends and it fits the stock body. CCW can also hook you use with tires -- they were recommending the Toyo RA-1s in 275+305 but they may have another setup if you want something realy sticky.

I think folks are saying you'd need to add C6Z flares or you'd hit the wheel arch. Plus you still have the 19" rear tire issue...

well I was just thinking if you could find a wheel tire combo someone was selling that it may make things easier but if it wont fit it's a moot point anyway.

I'm running the C6 coupe, so, I only need info about the coupes, not the Z06, although I do appreciate the replies. Naturally I'm looking for the least expensive route that will give me a full option of STICKY tires. I talked to some guys at the track that run used tires from T1 drivers that they get from some used race tire distributor. Has anyone acually ran the C5 Z06 rears all the way around the car? If so, I assume they ran the same size tires (width) all the way around as well. Does anyone have any more info on this setup. Any down sides etc. Thanks

Actually thats exactly what I do on my c4. We use 315/35/R17 on 17x11 1/2 ccw classics. works nice for us. I cant comment about the C6 but it is an inexpensive route for us

As I mentioned above, MattW_VA runs the C5Z rears all around with VRL slicks. If you want T1 scrubs you have to run 17" wheels and you're pretty much stuck with stock [C5 / base] rotors _and_ calipers.

I see, the 17"s are to small due to my rotor and caliper size. If anyone else has some more info on the 18" wheels and tires setup, please let me know. Thanks!!

Get in touch with John @ CCW. Tell him what you want to do, he'll tell you what he has. My personal plan is Corsairs 18x10+18x11; leaves me room from Gary's PFC calipers should I happen to win the lottery. :-)

LGM also announced a Forgeline special this week; they'll build something to fit, too.

If you ever use the competitive mode, you'll want to avoid using the same size wheels and tires all the way around. You'll need that larger diameter in back or you'll have problems.

Really, I didnt know that. I assume it has something to do with comparing front and rear wheel speed? I always use Comp mode at the track,,I guess I'll have to get away from using it when I go to slicks.

Yeah, the larger diameter in the rear is part of what the computer uses as a wheel speed comparison if I've followed other threads correctly.

Comp Mode is such a cheat -- I played with it a little bit and it was pretty amazing at small slip angles that I could ignore the throttle and just steer through the slide. It felt wrong to me, but this is my first track car with ABS, too. :-)

YOu could, but then when that rubber is shot, your in the same boat again.

18" all around are the way to go.

One thing to think about when buying USED wheels, is how much have they been used?? I beat the living chit out of my wheels. and after each event I take the wheels off, clean and inspect for cracks. None found, yet. The stack in the garage.

SO, If I go 18" all the way around,,the cheapest yet great route to go would be C5 Z06 rears on all 4 corners. I just found that Hoosier now sells a 19" Roadrace tire https://www.hoosiertire.com/rrtire.htm ,,,so,, that may still be an option. I just need to compare prices for the 18" and also consider the fact that with all 4 corners on 18"s, I'll have more options for tire brands etc.
