Default Is 2006 Ending With Fewer Injuries and Fatalities?

Is the 2006 season coming to a close with fewer injuries and
fatalities than there were in 2005?

My recollection is that at this point last year, there had
been several incidents that ended in tragedy. I know in 2006
we saw the deaths of Paul Dana, Peter Brock and Mark Porter,
the freak deer collision of Cristiano Da Matta, but over all,
my perception is that 2006 has had fewer and less severe
track incidents.
