GM helps HotRod put an LS7 into a Solstice

More HP and lighter than a C6Z06
The Most Wicked Magazine Project Ever Runs 10s, Stops From 60 mph in Less Than 100 Feet, and Pulls Over 1 g on the Skidpad.
We tested the LS7 crate motor in the Feb. '06 issue, and it made 519 SAE-rated horsepower out of the box. With 1 3/4-inch headers and the GM Hot cam, it cranked out 600 hp at 6,800 rpm and 526 lb-ft from 4,800 to 5,200. As installed in the HOT ROD Solstice, with tri-Y headers and full exhaust tucked under the car, it makes 585 hp and 540 lb-ft.
VEHICLE SPECIFICATIONS
Wheelbase: 2,420 mm
Track (f/r): 1,533 / 1,566 mm
Mass (curb): 2,861 pounds
Weight distribution (% front): 52
SUSPENSION SETTINGS RECOMMENDED BY PERFORMANCE DIVISION
Front camber: -1.2 degrees
Front caster: +7.50 degrees
Front toe: +0.1 degree sum
Rear camber: -1.5 degrees
Rear toe: +0.1 degree sum
Jounce travel: 72 mm front and rear with two passengers on board
Quarter-mile: 10.99 @ 133 mph

My first thought was, 'Mallet finished their V8 Solstice
over a year ago in Oct, 05'
But after reading a bit, I see that Mark Stielow participated
in the project - he has built and written about several cars
such as his Camaro 'The Mule' and the twin-turbo 'Malitude'.
HOTROD
- 2880 pounds, 52/48 distribution
- 585 hp and 540 lb-ft
MALLET
- 3094 pounds, 54/46 distribution
- 400 hp and 395 lb-ft
.

I think it is cool and the magazine is after all Hot Rod. I would rather have this 2300 pound LS7 powered car:

There were aftermarket parts used in the body and other areas, but there was hardly any custom fabrication done to make the engine swap work.
