Default Do the C5 Z rear brake ducts make a difference?

I'm contemplating purchasing an FRC for road racing and was wondering if those vents really work.

If they do, is it worthwhile to install them or should I just bite the bullet and get an 01 Z?

Thanks in advance for your responses!

Your choice is not based soley on the rear brake ducts. You can add the ducts to an FRC but you can't add all the Z06 stuff.

The rear brake ducts do work.

also you should bite the bullet a little harder and get an 02' Z06 with the 405 hp LS6 and not the 385 hp that's in the 01'. 01's should be much less expensive.

Thank you for the quick response!

I probably should have mentioned that I'm going to be upgrading the drivetrain and suspension anyway, so I don't think the advantages will be that much. I'd rather spend the $ in mods.

Has anyone had them put in on their FRC? Anyone know the cost?

Like $240 from Ecklers plus a few hours of your time.

Stick with the FRC then, and the brake ducts might help a bit, but are more for looks. I've heard some people use them for tranny coolers.

they don't do squat! Rear brakes don't overheat very often on the C5, but they do wear out quickly. Just save the money for spare pads and rotors

btw, the only real gain in the Z06 is the better rod bolts (01) and the bigger cam/heads (02-up). You can upgrade both easily if you want to spend the money. The thinner winshield, etc, were all marketing hype for the most part.

The Z06 trans is different, but 99% of the time, the MN6 is better for road racing. The gears are closer in 1-4. However, on tracks that you might use 5th (Daytona, Rd America maybe), 5th is better in the M12. The Z06 trans was really done to make the drag racers get more bite in first gear. I would concentrate on mods to get more revs (a Z06 cam/heads can rev to around 7200rpm and make power) to get all you can out of 4th gear, instead of worrying about getting re-geared
