Default Autox Street Tire Info Needed

I'm going to autocross my stock 92 vette in a street tire class next year. The basic rules are I have to use stock or stock size rims and the tires have to have a wear rating of 140 or higher.

The best recommendation to date is the Falken 615 in a 275 40 17. Anyone else have an opinion or suggestion?

TIA

I found Kumho MX's were good for street and autocross - I now have sumitomo HTR ZII's as a street tire and if I didn't autocross with race tires I'd probably use the sumitomo's. They've got a nice feel.

I did some back to back testing with the Falken and BFG KD's and the 615's was almost 1/2 faster on a fast (Grissom) 50 sec course.

For the money, the Kumho MX at their 220 treadwear rating will be the best tire. Although I run Hooiser A6's for autocross, I do use my MX's on occasion for both autocross and track days. The dry grip is great for a street tire and they will let you know when they are about to lose grip. If you can get them hot, they work great!!

While the MX has great dry traction, I would hesitate using them at high speeds in the rain. General street use and freeway speeds in the rain are not a problem, but anything over say, 100 in the wet might be scary.

The Kumho MX's are good and less expensive than others. If you want to spend a little more, the Good Year Supercars are an excellent dry tire (better than the MX's). They come stock on C5 Z06's.

RT-615
I'd take those over Kumho MX. I ran the MX on my 92 coupe for AX and was never impressed. But most people seem to like them.

These might help:

http://www.caranddriver.com/features...the-tread.html

Unfortunately, they don't test the Falkens.

Sorry, no personal experience but I'm told the Kumho MX's are less prone to overheating compared to the Falken's. Also, shaved MX's are noticeably faster than non-shaved.
