Making my Z06 nicer makes me want a track only car...
W/ all the fun mods to the Z06 and the pending paint job this spring.... makes me wish I had a '99 FRC to beat on.
Ingredients:
1 '99 FRC in decent working order
*gut interior
*delete AC
*delete Stereo
*delete mufflers (T1 catback)
*Hoosiers on 17" ZR-1 wheels
*Allignment
*Seats
*Harnesses w/ bar
Then beat the **** out of it... and don't have to worry about trying to keep it "nice".
Just my though for the day

Why hold out for a FRC. If you are gutting anyway, the weight savings is nominal - just go for a regular coupe. They have better aero and weight distribution anyway (and look like the real C5Rs), and would be even cheaper.

Don't forget the T1 bars and a roll bar (hey, if you're gutting it anyhow, be safe). May as well get some nice coilovers too, as the handling will improve quite a bit. Oil cooler, tranny cooler...
In fact, buy a T1 prepped car from Phoenix or one of the other good vendors, and go to town!

Still need coolers & radiator even stock if you are going to beat it

Just let me know what you want for Christmas (color, etc.) and it's yours. Just hop on my lap and tell Santa all about it.

why do you think Im looking for another car! I want to keep my new c6 nice and on the street...
choices are:
1) buy this T2 350z that I found...pretty sweet car
2) wait and pray to god I get a good bonus (some odd reason my company does them in March) and maybe be able to afford a "cheap" T1 vette...

Brian,
I know how you feel. Whenever I clean my car after an event I see all the new nicks and rubber stains in the paint and pits in the windshield. Although using my car for both street and track keeps me conservative on the track. Since I need to drive it home I stay at that 70-80% level. If I ddin't care that much about the condition or trailered to events who knows..........
Good Luck !

Guys, I feel your pain. I couldn't stand it any longer and didn't want to mess up a perfectly nice car, so I just bit the bullet and went with an old T1 car.
Phil, you're next to do it. You know we can play golf when we get older.

Brian, For the last two years at about this very time, I've read this same post from you!
They're out there man... JUst shop and negotiate. I think I have my M Roadster sold and then I'll be looking at something a little more sophisticated to replace it with...
My track car is almost done and I can't wait to fire it up and head to the track!

Agree,
have 3 , one vert highly modified for street , Very fun
the silver one becoming more and more of a track only car, ( still hesitant to pull out all the interior and put the cage but its coming just took out the A/c )
a very low mileage 72 gr8 cruising car.

I finally put my car in the garage and was claying the paint even though most paint on the nose is gone. My car went from double bucket method of washing to a track rat. It is hard to take a new car to the track and screw up the paint and glass. I would be sick if I had to do it to another car.

We really want to go wheel to wheel, if possible, and C5s are not in the budget for that...Jake makes gagging noises when we discuss Spec Miata....so somewhere in between...AI Mustang leaps to mind....
