Tow Hooks???
I've got an 01 Z that I'm turning into a track car. I see tow hooks, hinged and unhinged, for sale but I'm totally unfamiliar with them. Where do they bolt/weld on, how do you access them when you need to, do you want/need hinged or unhinged. All information will be appreciated. Thanks

You can buy them from Joe A at Phoenix Performance.
My rears are attached where the muffler hanger is on the right side. Need longer bolts
The front is attached at the T were the frame rail mates with the cross bumper rail. The front facia did need to be removed.
Mine are bolted in place.
Joe did not have the folder ones when I got mine.
I think the reason for the foldeing tow hooks is to not puncture an other car when there is a bumper to bumper contact.

The rigid tow hooks could also puncture a pedestrian or car on the street, a serious concern with a streetable track car. They may not pass safety standards in some areas. As often the case, the General could have saved us a lot of trouble if these things were available as options, as they are on many cars.

Small patch of velcro will keep folding ones from flapping around

Have you ever walked around the shop & got one of those non folding ones in the shin? OUCH! Go for the folding ones from Joe A at Phoenix unless you have a big shop or strong shins

Thanks guys, I'm all tuned up on tow hooks now. Hinged look like the way to go for the safety of everybody and everything. I really appreciate all the pictures and feedback. This forum is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I can see a basic problem with the folding ones - the non-folding ones (from Joe by the way) make a great place to set your beer - at least that is what I told the GA State Trooper.
The instructions from Phoenix for the front are great. I also removed the rear fascia to install the rear one - no real instructions for that but it is pretty straightforward. All the parts are with the kit and it went in quite nicely

Havent' used the velcro with my folding ones and no issues, Would encourage anyone who tracks their car to make this one of the earlier mods ( could almost consider it up there with safety items ) Have had to use mine a couple of times to get back to the paddock, worth every penny . also use em every time to winch the car in the trailer

I'm sure the folding ones would be street legal since they do not protrude.

I'm looking for some tow hooks as well. I can't find any info on the Phoenix folding tow hooks that were mentioned several times in this thread. How do you contact Phoenix?
Thanks,
John
