Default How do you get your Hoosiers or 710s to the track?

I have to purchase my wheels for Time Trailing and I'm looking at the Michelin Pilot Sport Cups and just driving on them to the track 305/19 for the rears.

Or going with the Hoosiers but how do you guys get them to the track?

Do they make racks you can use on the glass top? Do they make trailer hitches and small trailers you can use for tires?

I put two front wheels/tires on the passenger seat and change them when I get to track. I drive on the 710 rears.

The Firestone WO street tires on the front clear water for rears if I get caught in the rain while driving home from events. Hydroplaning wasn't an issue except when passing a semi on the interstate. The semi can throw enough water under the rears to create instant hydroplaning.

The 710's seem to grip OK on damp pavement, but won't tolerate any puddles.

hopefully going to switch this around and actually put the car with tires on a trailer so I can just roll off and be ready to go, but this setup worked well for me.

I drive on my V710's to the track all the time. 60 miles one way.

Steve how many sessions and miles do you get out of a set. Or how many weekends?

I use my 710's for autocross. I get 150 laps out of them. The last 50 I'm off at least one second to my competition. For track days, I use Toyo RA1's. They will last 6 track days. I would estimate about 1/32nd each day. One full tank of gas worth of time per day. The Toyo's are also my DD tire. Not that many miles though on the street.

Hope this helps.

I use this trailer. Takes about 4 hours to put it together. Works great and you can't beat the price.

Default VLR Hoosiers

I race on VLR Hoosiers and trailer the car to the track since it is not street legal. Some of the street car guys mount their race tires and a jack on a small utiltiy trailer. They change the tires out once they get to the event. If you have a racing buddy that trailers their car, perhaps they can haul your tires.

I use this one, with a piece of plywood across the top.

This one is a little better, but heavier and more expensive too.
