6 speed sequential Dog box available from LG Motorsports
Hi Guys,
Here is the new 6 speed sequential gear box that is close to being approved for the World Challenge series. We also plan on selling these units to our Corvette customers. It is also 25 pounds lighter and comes with an internal transmission oil pump and internal spray bar to provide cooling oil to the gears directly.
Here are the photos, this is a direct bolt in transmission replacement for the Corvette C5 and C6 and C6 Z06
The gear ratios are:
1st 2.571; 2nd 1.861; 3rd 1.473; 4th 1.186; 5th 1.000;
6th 0.848
This gives you a usuable 6th gear and keeps the RPM drops in each gear to a reasonable number since you are splitting the top speed with one extra gear ratio.
And it is a dog box, so you can either use the clutch or not on the shifts.
Also there is no "H" pattern any more since it is a sequential shift trans. pull back for each up shift and push forward for each down shift.
This transmission is close to being approved for our World Challenge race car and I have only one in stock.
Pricing is $19,500 so it is not for the faint of heart.
We have to supply the race teams first but we should have some available if anyone is interested.
Thanks
Lou Gigliotti

Very nice Lou! Would love to have that in my T1 vette and have it approved for that series.

It is built in Australia by Holinger. I have the first one here in my shop in case they approve it
We are hoping that they do because we had a few problems with the GM motorsports box, and they don't build that one any more. It looks like this is the way that the series is going.
The Mazda, Acura and Porsche and Mustang already use this type of transmission. The Caddy has their own custom straight cut gear transmission. So this will be the wave of the future.
In the end, this transmission will be cheaper for us because the upkeep will be much less.
These are 1" wide gears, which is the same as we used with 740 hp in our Daytona AGT car back in 2002.
Thanks

Extreemly close ratio gear box. I was putting in differnt Dif( 3.42, 3.73, 3.90 & 4.10) ratios to look at gears, rpms and related speeds.
With this trans, one could tune their car very nicely to work in the peek HP bands with out much rpm drop with shifting.

That is very nice.
Maybe the price will come down in the next couple of years to a more affordable level (or at least one I can afford).
Hope it gets approved for use. Will be interested in hearing what you think of the transmission if it does.

Yes, they are talking about adding 25 pounds to the Corvette if we run this transmission. In the big picture, the Corvette needs to have some of the added weight from 06 taken off and some weight added to the other cars, so it should all come out in the wash.
The gear ratios with a 3.90 diff will get us to our top speed at all the tracks. that will put us at about 165mph at the end of the straight at Atlanta which is perfect for us, and exactly what we used last season.
The 6th gear is about what our 5th gear was, and the 3.90 was perfect for the high speed tracks.
the 3.42 diff will get you up to near 190 and the 3.15 diff will reach just over 200 mph and the 2.73 diff will reach about 235 mph if you have about 800-900 hp and a top speed run in mind.
Overall it is a good answer to our transmission woes on the race track. Aside from the "outside forces" that affected our championship run, our transmission cost me about 5 finishing positions last season from having problems with our transmission. This gear box should eliminate them all and let us go race again without worrying about the transmission.
thanks guys,
I will keep you posted.

I have done mid 150 a few times on VIR brack straight and Road Atlanta. Might have gotten into the 160s if I went to 5th gear.
Persoannly I would rather have good gearing though out the track with torque for getting out of corners then 165+ mph capabilties.
Yes Let us know how things work out.
We all wish the best of luck in the upcoming 2007 season.

Dam to bad X-mas just pasted I would have thrown it on my list. Hope they approve it for you. Wonder how many other teams will get it if available?

That is serious bad @ss. I can't imagine HOW COOL as sequential would be on a road course. That is the way it should be!

weeellll,,what's another 19 grand!! we've had 5 motors 3 transmissions and 2 rear ends in it so far...
at least the folks that sold me titanium rotors that didn't work we're big enough to give me the 4200 back...so i believe the fancy trans would be just the thing....i still have come to the conclusion that i just need to learn to drive better and quit wasting cubic dollars...
funny,,,,the original motor that i took out for the first of 5 - 427"s is still running strong in a rx-7 a guy built for scca racing....maybe i'll learn one day!!! nah probably not....
