Z06 spring question
Hi guys,
I have a 97 vette that I have been doing 3-5 HPDE's a year. (all that's in the budget right now) My question is I have upgraded the shocks to the 04 Sachs units, and put the Z06 sways and metal end links F&R. Is it worth it to go ahead and put the Z06 springs in If I can find some used ones at a pretty good price. Don't have the money for coilovers and they may be overkill for me any way.
I am running the Z06 wheels and Supercar tires also. Would tires be a better investment at this stage or the springs.
By the way the springs in the car now are the ones that came with and it had the F45 supension.
Thanks for the comments on advance.
Tim

Tires! No question.
To increase speed the fastest way, improve the contact patches first:
Tires (to the pavement)
Brakes (to the rotors)
Belts, Seat, suit, gloves, boots (to the driver) - SAFETY!!!!!!!!!

So you think the spring is no big deal, but go tires before the springs.
I have Wilwoods up front, harness dar with 5 point belts, and the sport seats.
Thanks so far.

ok Tires should be the choice. Should I go to a straight race slick or something more towards a Kuhmo V710 ot Toyo RA1. Just want to get opinions on type of tire not brand ie race slick or some tread on it.
Thanks again.

Dammit Tim, if you get tires then I'll actually have to try to let you not pass me! j/k Seriously though tires are the only thing keeping me ahead of you.
Tim just let me know and I will get you in touch with John Berrget so you can try some used Kuhmos, or Hoosiers. (That's what I run) that way if you don't like them you won't have $800 to $1000 in a set of tires. Instead you'll have about $80 per tire.

tires will make you go faster, but you'll have to change them a LOT more. Springs will make you faster, and you'll only change them once.
SO, if ultimate speed is the issue, tires are the answer, but you'll need new ones every few events.

Joel,
Thanks for the kind words, but it's a work in progress. I got some tires from John but they were autocross tires. I sold them as I wanted r compound so I will give John another call and see what he has.

If you got Hoosier A's instead of R's it's not that big of a deal Phoenix uses the A compounds all the time. Personally I'm partial to Kuhmo's but that's just me. I like Kuhmo's, John runs Toyo's and Greg runs slicks so to each there own, either way tires will net you a bunch of grip, however you will got through tires quicker, plus the tires we get from John take a little longer to warm up so beware, you run pretty early and late at RA and those things will stay cold for 2 laps somtimes when the temps get below 50. Once they get hot though you can carry easily another 10 mph through the carosel.
