You think the purchase price is $$$$. To run it through a season of HPDE will cost you close to the purchase price. These things are like boats, the price above is simply the entry fee.
Then break something they don't make anymore and you'll be paying a fabricator big $$$.

Incidently, those cars turned a couple laps quicker than the DPs qualified at that year!

Boy, I'll say it would! The LRP track record is held by a GTP car at 43.1 WITH the kink in the uphill! DP cars are nowhere in the league of a GTP car. I really liked the Chevrolet Intrepid GTP:
