Default Radiator Fan Vibration

FYI, I thought I'd share this with you. I have a '93 that I use for HPDE events. Over the past season I noticed that whenever the auxillary fan kicked in I felt terrible vibration. I thought the fan bearing was bad but this winter, while removing the fan assembly to aid in pulling my engine, I found that the backside (radiator side) of the fan blades were caked with track rubber (marbles)! It's amazing that it didn't tear itself apart! Additionally, on the backside of the radiator opposite the fan, the cooling fins looked like they were pummelled with a hammer, evidently from the marbles being driven into the radiator by the fan. Bottom line: if your experiencing fan vibration and your water temps seem to be higher, check it out and keep it clean!

Here's hoping everyone has a great track year in 2007.

It is amazing where they can get. I still wonder how they actually form.
