Default WTB Set of lug nuts

Does anyone have an extra set of lug nuts laying around that they want to get rid of. I bought a set of wheels/tires for HPDE from a forum member but he did not have lug nuts. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Go to a local tire store and pick up 20. There's nothing special about the lugnuts. I buy a couple of sets a year for track use. Get the open end ones so trash doesn't get caught in them.

Any Autozone/Advance Auto/PepBoys has metric Acorn lugs.

If they are stock wheels, you can use your existing lugnuts. If you want an extra set, most places wil have open-end lugnuts that will work fine. Just make sure they have a 60 degree taper.

think I paid like 2.25 ea from another dealer which was on the forum shipped. That was with the threads on the outside for the plastic nuts.

Be careful with the cheap Chinese chrome lug nuts if you have your wheels on and off a lot. I bought two sets from a forum wheel vendor before I learned the hard way. The lugs would end up stripping, and I stripped 3 studs (the rear are a pain to replace) before I figured out the lugs were causing it. After a few on and off cycles they got soft and gummed up the studs which ended up ruining the studs. One I had to bust to get off the stud.

Yes I run them on with my fingers first and I know how to not cross thread a lug. These weren't cross threaded, the threads just ended up "melting" or something. I do use a DeWalt battery impact since I change my wheels so often at the track so maybe they couldn't handle the heat of an impact or something. Never had a problem when I went back to factory lugs on my C5.

Now the C6 uses the same cheap crappy lugs with soft aluminum beauty covers that my 1979 Monza Spyder used. The beauty covers are starting to tear on those from frequent use. Just like they did back in 1979.

Anyone have any recommendation for some high quality lug nuts that use the 19mm socket? McGard''s are good but are larger and so a pain when my buddies and me are running our pit crew tire changes at the track.
