I need trailer info
I want to go with one that weighs as little as possible. I pull it with my motorhome (Ford V-10) and I don't have much extra power. Is an aluminum trailer (enclosed) going to be worth the extra money? Any ideas on better brands or brands to stay away from? I use an open trailer now but if I get a track car I want to be able to keep it in the trailer out of the weather.

Get what you can afford. If you have the funds, then get an aluminum one. If you're looking for something a bit cheaper (but heavier), then check out Haulmark, or Pace or another brand that primarily uses steel. There are used ones all the time on the forums...great deals. I recently bought a really nice 44' Haulmark Edge gooseneck for $16K. The deals are out there...just keep looking!

ATC makes nice and reasonable aluminum trailers, expect to spend $10k-15k for a 20-24' depending on options. Steel equivalents are are about $4k less. http://www.aluminumtrailer.com/index.php
The steel trailers start around 3200lbs (20') and going up over 3500lbs as you get longer. Aluminum trailers are around 500-1000lbs lighter. The empty weights really mean you need the 10,000lb axle combination, if you are carrying much more than a car.
Trailex makes an ultralight enclosed, they are 500-1000lbs lighter than the other aluminum trailers, but it is compact and pricey:

Seems like most of the V-10 motorhomes I looked at had a 5,000# towing capacity. If that's the case with yours, you might want to reconsider and just keep the open trailer.

In my opinion, a Featherlite is the way to go for quality and certainly resale.
Jerry, If you have to pull over mountains, your V10 may be marginable.
We pull a 24 ft. Featherlite loaded with a 1150 lb. formula car. With spare parts, roller cabinet, small generator, etc., the trailer weight is about 7200 lbs. To get to any of the tracks, we have to pull over an 8,000 ft. mountain but if you're pulling over a 3000 ft hill at the same grade, I guess the results would be the same. Pulling this rig with a 31 ft., class A, 300hp Cat, the speed upslope is under 55. Our new motorhome ( 34 ft with 350hp Cat), runs about 58mph.
I would think that a 20ft aluminum with your Vette would weight close to our rig and will be slow going with a V10.
XPCR5 - It's been about 4 years since I priced Featherlites but, then, the prices were about what you gave for the ATC's

May depend on the MH class. Mine was a class "C" with the -F450, Ford V10 but the way they hack the frame up to put the MH box on it is the limiting factor. Also, the hitch is "probably" on the MH frame and not the chassis ... can't fix that easily either.
Check the hitch itself ... it is likely #3,500. Even if it is #5,000, you will be max with a normal car on it. Most anything stout enough to haul a car will come in at #1,500 empty easily. Add ~#3,000 to that, easily.
I have a 16' enclosed Wells Cargo and with (2) 4-wheelers it was ~#3450. However, I took it across country twice with no lack of power issues but within my hitch limits. With a Vette on a flat, much less enclosed, .... likely not a good deal.

My motorhome says 3500 lbs. trailer weight. I have the banks kit and it pulls way better than most V-10 motorhomes do. I have no problems pulling the Vette with the open trailer on this mostly flat roads in Central and North Texas. I pull my Jeep all over Colorado without a problem since I installed the Banks system. I'm worried about the extra weight of the enclosed trailer. After going to the track one time without the motorhome it is now not an option.

if going aluminum check out Optima. In my view nicer than the Featherlite for similar money. Smooth sides, finished interior etc. etc. Nicer looking trailer with similar build quality. I have a 24' enclosed and like it a lot.

More power isn't the issue Jerry ... There is a reason the hitch is rated at #3500.

I understand that. I pull a 18 foot open trailer with the C^ now and I worry about it but I want an enclosed trailer. The MH has such a short wheelbase that the hitch is way back and you can screw up the frame. Five or six 200 mile trips a year, I may chance it. I will have to keep a watch on the frame!
