Default Not your normal AX. This one is Awesome, Trust me. (East TN)

This one is not in some flat parking lot. This is on an actual race track complete with banked turns. Here, Check out the Videos. Look to the right of the screen and you'll see the other 4.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...=411+autocross

On that back straight I was hitting the top of second which is 80 mph in my car. Then brake and hold the top of first around the banked turn which would be about 50. Hit second and get about 65 before I'd get to what I called the Up, Up, Down, Down, Up. Watch the video and that'll all make sense to you. As you can see lots of almost 90 degree turns, but they are smooth and most cars kicked out on those and that just adds to the fun. Coming out of the final turn I was sliding a little sideways until I hit the rev limiter for first which was usually about 10ft before I'd go through the finish gates. And all that and I wasn't even pushing my car to the limits.

Hurry though, It's March 4th, 2007
Registration is $45 and you just have to print off the form and send it in. Sorry, but you can't just show up. Trust me though, It is absolutely worth it. Oh and ANY car can run. By April the track will be converted to dirt, so, there is no "I'll go next year to this one". This is it.

Registration Form

Website with the list of completed registrations

411 Motor Speedway
632 Highway 411
Seymour, TN 37865

(A little southeast of Knoxville, Tennessee)

UPDATE:

For a total of $65 you can run this autocross two days in a row.

How?
The saturday before that, on March 3rd, The local Porsche Club is also having an Any car autocross at the exact same place. http://www.pca.org/smt/MarchMadnessAX.html $20, no registration required.

So, ever wanted to have a two day autocross here is your chance.

Note to the Mods: I know it's in two sections I just felt like it kinda fit in both.

MAP

Good photo-like map for those that need it. The street number is wrong, but it puts the star in the right place. You should be able to see the track when you click on aerial image.

Had you not said where this was located, I would have assumed it was one of our Corvette-Troy events here in Ohio at Kil-Kare Speedway. They play that game at every event , and the concrete walls are flirted with often, we run typicaly around the high-side of the banking not the low side............

The guys in Nashville have talked about this place. Maybe I will make a weekend out of going to the Tail of the Dragon and doing this autocross on street tires. If the weather turns nice.

If you like the banks, try the NCCC high speed autox running at the old Rockingham. You run both straights with the 22 degree bank before dropping to the infield roadcourse. I did that one last year....spooky.. the most disconcerting things about the banking are the black marks that run perpendicular straight up the bank into the concrete. You lose it in the bank, YOU LOSE IT..... I really would prefer a full roll cage for that track.

I was looking forward to going to Rockingham again this year, but they are not doing it, said that attendance had fallen off to much, and they were losing money doing it.
Big disapointment, we had a larger group here in Ohio ready to go this year.

Art, come on now son, you were spooked there?? try riding in the passenger seat with you driving at Putnam Park as you proceed to lap the field in your run group with a cracked rotor

We use to do one similar to this (track was a bit larger and it looks like the banks were steeper too) at Thompson Speedway in CT. Was an absolute blast. The club that use to run the event doesn't do it any more. Think the track jacked up the rental to where it was not worth it.
Vid brought back great memories!!!
Thanks,
Bob B.

I did an autocross at a smaller circle track, had a blast.

The guy who was with me didn't, threw a road bearing!

I'd get an accusump and a road race pan for that banking.

By the way,

Even if you're just watching you can still ride with anybody who will let you. If you don't have your own helmet, the track has a few there. But if you do have one, I'd bring it just incase, because the track only has a few of them.

If you want ot run Rockiingham, go to WWW.THSCC.com and look at their track days. These are not AC events but, if you like that track, you can wear yourself out. THSCC runs a great, safe event.
