Hmmm, Tim Hund has two entries. That will be a heck of an accomplishment driving both cars! I wonder what's up with that!
BTW: That #96 car of Jerry Onks is my old car. Go Jerry!

good luck guys!
Not to highjack the thread, but has there been any showing in the new ST class? I was curious to see how many T1 guys jumped ship and went with the new c6 z06 in ST (or viper, GT). So far I have not seen much, but then again, I have not looked hard.

I think AJ tried to run the Viper at Sebring but was well over the 103db sound limit...so they scrapped it. Other than that, there's been nothing of note in the SEDIV. I'll be happy to run one though if somebody donates it!!!!!!

A Grand Am race (3 hours +/-) needs 5-8 crew members to be done "right," (and those numbers are border line effective). A WC GT weekend is even more expensive.
Now a Touring (WC) or ST (Grand AM) car may be more inline with a Super Touring or T1 car in pricing, but we are not talking about the same type of car.
The you add in the constant development costs of these cars compared to a club racer; there really is a difference. Bigger than most people know (trust me, I just did some research on the subject).

true...but a ST z06 is north of 100k and LG was selling WC GT cars in mid 100 right? running a full season in SCCA ST adds on what, say 50-60k with all parts, development, travel, etc. So you are heading north of 150k fast..maybe getting close to 200k. I have no evidence to support this statement, but I assume if someone could spend 200k in SCCA ST racing, they probably could afford WC (perhaps?).
Anyway, the point is I am curious to see if ST will end up being a popular class.

A SCCA World Challenge weekend is much more expensive than a SCCA National weekend.
I heard from the rumor mill than one former T1 driver who made the jump to WCGT has $500K in his effort and hasn't been at a race yet. There is a night and day difference; you don't have to beleive me, though.
ST may work, may not. My car can run two classes. I just have to decide if it is competitive in T1. If not, then look into ST. The issue I have with making the move to ST is that this class is not eligible for the Run Offs this year (and most likely not in 2008).
However, NASA has a ST class that seems to be gaining some traction; it will be interesting to see how that pans out.

NASA ST will be an awesome class. Power-to-weight limits, but otherwise NO performance rules. NASA encourages competitors to come out, have fun, and race. I can't say that SCCA has been able to do that for me in 15years of trying........
As for SCCA's ST, spending that kind of money "club" racing just doesn't make sense. No spectators, no TV (except one race). You could rent a ride in Koni (grand am) cup, for even WC Touring, for under $100k for a season. Maybe not a winning ride, but good competition, TV, and they do all of the work for you.

Phil will most likely be the one to catch there guys. He still has the track record and with his new shocks and new(er) engine, he'll be tough to keep up with!!
I still can't believe there will be 7 T1 cars there. It would be 8 if Mike S. weren't driving his new SS car - Solstice. Should be fun!
