I wonder how badly hurt some of those spectators were? I imagine some were fatal (didn't watch the whole thing, but enough).

I think I'll stay on the track or autox!

Have a good one,
Mike

Man, that's really scarey!! The only ones who were more stupid than the drivers were the spectators/camera persons.

My emtions went from terror for the spectators (who put themselves in dangerous places) to a belly laugh at the results of some of the out-of -control driving. As Mike pointed out, I can't see how some of the spectators were'nt killed or seroiusly injured.

Amazing video ! The spectators are crazy - there is no way that I would be anywhere near the course with the cars coming at me full tilt. It is a wonder that more ar not killed with as many offs as were shown.

But what I really took away from it, other than the spectators, was the number of HELMETS that came off in the incidents!

Yea Tom ... rush hour in LA ..

The in-car video is near the end ... just click on the slider.

I still can't get over this video. I've got it on my PS3 so I can watch it when time allows. How stupid do you have to be to enter these things??!!

I just watched the first 20 minutes or so...

Is it just me or did it seem that most all of the cars that went off were FWD. Yea there were a few BMW's and Escorts scattered in there, but it seemed to me that most of the guys that got into trouble got in over their heads early in the corner and were, in many many cases loosing it before they even turned into the corner.

I know you may want to set up FWD cars so that you can get them to turn in, but the instability under braking for a lot of these cars was pretty dramatic... I guess that when you have 60% or so of the weight on the front wheels, and then you put on sticky tires and have the car up in the air a bit, you end up with not much weight on the back axle under really hard braking... Good recipe for disaster...

As many of you guys know I love rally racing. I would do some of it but the event fees and car prep cost are stupid these days. From ice racing I have found the only way to get mid to corner out push is to make the rear of the car super stiff. That is why these cars look worrible over the bumps and under braking. It's hard to get used to driving a locked up front diff and a super stiff rearend, you really have to be on the game or else crashes happen.

Randy
PS I hate watching crashes in racing. I will dig up some good rally video!!! Group B back in the day was crazy fast!!!

Randy now your talking mate! Group B was the best rallying ever. shame it got banned (thanks to spectators getting killed).

and rallying is really safe for the spectators! I HAVE BEEN TO A WRC EVENT!!!! you get a b*llocking if your stood in the wrong place at the wrong time.......and sometimes pelted with stones...from thecars!!

thanks Chris.

PS sorry i cant see the vid. could someone please tell me what is shows??? i will try and tell you about the racing than...as im form the uk.

Here is the video I was looking for!!!

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...086777&q=rally

From the start to the end of Group B rally, watch how much faster the cars got. Also watch Audi progress and raising the bar everytime.

Randy your right again. its was Audi that started the 4wd off. from then there was no looking back. groupe b was the pinical in the mid 80's until it got banned.

today we have the very competative as probably just as fast WRC (do a serch on Google). these things are fanomal. 2.0ltr turbos making only 300bhp but over 450lbsft through electornic sequential and elcrtricly controled diffs (and these three dont forget!! ).

thanks Chris
