Default Kumho MX or Nitto 555 R2 ???

I'm running HPDE time trials on Kumho MX.

Does anyone who has experience with both of these feel the Nitto tires would improve time? I haven't seen any on Corvettes but I have seen them on Saleens and GTOs. The drivers seem to like them.

Cheers from Arizona

I have run both and like both.

MX is cheaper but the Nittos are a little faster in my experience.

I've not run the Nittos, but I believe Toyo owns Nitto (or vice versa), and I've heard the 555 R2s are the same compound as the Toyo RA-1s, just a different tread pattern.

If that's the case, the R2s should be a great street/track tire compromise.

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike
