NASCAR Solution
Been reading all the threads and wondering what could be done in Daytona to satisfy most of us who want to see those cars go left AND right.
So, last night it came to me...Run part or all of the Daytona 500 on the same road course the 24hr race is run on...would make it lots more interesting.
What do ya think???

Interesting thought and more fun I agree, however, since they change
the brake pads on the sports cars every 6 hours does anyone want to
estimate how many changes they would make on a NASCAR in 500 miles?
Although, I've been impressed at how quick the V8 Supercars do it!

Crapcar needs to learn to steer right and left and how to use the brakes. MORE road course events similar to Watkins Glen would be the only thing that could convince me to watch. Seeing these cars running the circuit at VIR or Road America would be worth attending. Otherwise FUGGEDABOUTIT !!

They run a race like that already, two week before the 500. You don't see much 190 mph, nose to tail, 2-3 wide, 10 car deep, drafting for laps on end at that race though.
I love road racing and do as many track events as I can but if I'm paying to watch a race it will be at Talladega or Daytona getting my speed fix watching 43 stock cars bump drafting near 200 mph.

And, I'm surprised that they don't have as many RV spaces at road
courses. I looked at Infineon/Sears Point and they charge something
like $1600 for a track side spot. It then goes all the way down to $250
for stuff up in the hills or across the highway which require a shuttle to
get to the viewing areas. The high price gets you four tickets, the low
gets you a parking spot and no tickets.
After going to ALMS and leaning on the garage door frame to get pics
I don't think a crowded NASCAR weekend is going to be much fun.

Buy some Craftsman Truck tickets- Go early and watch the Cup practice-Stand close to the fence- Enjoy a great truck race and then come back here and post.
Road racing rules if you're the driver. Not so much if you spectate.
Saturday night round-and-round is "fun" for all--But until you stand there and feel 43 3400 lb. 800+ h.p. cars go by you, hold your criticism.

Might try going to Road Atlanta and watching 4-5 cars Corvettes, Audi, Aston, Ferrari all coming down the hill passing for position.
Yea, it's not as exciting as a circle

That's what makes it nice in ALMS. there are 3 other classes to watch and enjoy, plus you have the Porsche Spyder nipping at the heels of the Audi's at certain tracks for the overall win.
Even last year GT1 was horrible. The previous year was much better.

They said on WInd Tunnel the 18 million plus purse at Daytona 500 is more than Grand AM, AMLS, Champ Car, and IRL purses for the entire year.

Not those four marques, but we had Audi, Lola (Dyson), Porsche, Zytec, and Creation all coming down the hill last year battling for the beginning of the race!! Some exciting first laps.....

That would have been Trans-Am in the late 80's, early 90's.
