Default Track tires on stock wheel sizes

Looking for track tires on stock wheel sizes for the C6 18x8.5 front and 19x10 rears. I love the RA-1 product but they don't make the 19 inch version.

What are you guys using?

I've been running my Supercars but the plan is to buy some CCWs and start off with Toyos until I decide about a [tire] trailer. Others are running 4 C5Z rears with various tires, and I'm pretty sure a few folks picked up the cheap SSR 18s that TireRack had recently.

I tried the BF Goodrich KDW2's and they have held up very well. They still don't stick as well as my Supercars. 300 wear rating vs 220. I'm considering the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A which has a wear rating of 140. They come in C6 size and are $204 front and $260 rear from Tire Rack. Hopefully we'll have more options soon.

What about using 2004 Z06 18 inch wheels on an 07 C6 for the track. More options in 18s like RA-1s?

Yes. Several guys are running 4 18x10.5 C5Z rear wheels on C6s (I think I mentioned this in my last response)... atleast one is even running VRL slicks on them. My only worry is that the offset is a bit wrong leading to the tires living slightly outside the wheel arch.

Thats what I thought and I want to avoid that. Staying with 19s in the rear sure doesn't leave any options for R compound though.

None of the C6 guys running the C5Z rims have reported hitting the wheel arch with a tire. I'm not sure how lowered any of those cars are, though.

Once every few months I email all the DOT-R manufacturers about 19in sizes and they're all extremely non-commital about it. If you search in this forum for my posts you'll find my last round with the email responses I got.

My personal plan is CCWs (18x10+18x11) and RA-1s (275+305), atleast to start with... they're the right offset, they're light, they're strong, I can drive them to the events and back, etc, etc.

Which CCW wheel? The C14?

CCW quoted me $2600 for the C14 wheels 18x10 & 18x11. Plus $1250 for RA1s 275/35 & 305/35 Plus $260 for tire pressure sensors. Plus shipping. Not cheap.

The Hoosier probably won't be lasting too too long on the track

The R would have good longevity compared to an A. Maybe not what an RA-1 would have, but it fits your request: 19" track tire that will fit the stock wheel.

I have the very same problem.....I ran F1 supercar tires last year and they worked quite well for me. I ran close to the front in the fastest run group on track days in my other car using GSCS's.....the C6
Z51 with supercar F1's was only a second slower, but a pretty hairy ride at that speed on street tires!

This year I plan to run 245/40 -18 and 295/30-19 Hoosier R6's on stock rims....I expect that will work very well....now I do track days not autocross.

I would much prefer to run a 275 up front...but it will not fit the factory front wheel....which I have a spare set of.

Other options would be to widen a stock front wheel.....or use a C5 rear wheel on the front. Mismatched wheels look terrible and CCW's are just too expensive for me now.

My expectation is that the 245/295 Hoosier combo will be extremely fast. On my Mustang track car I switched from 245's to 255's on the front and felt no improvement.....and that is a heavy front weighted car.

I will try to see if C6 rear wheels fit on the front.....then I can run 295/30-19 Hoosiers all around. Now I wonder what will happen to the active handling.........does anyone have experience on a C6 with same diameter tires front and rear?

I use Hoosier R6 on stock size wheels. They are good for approx. 15 heat cycles, or 3-4 weekends. Great tires, really make a difference.

In Canada (in $C) the Hoosier R6 295s are $386 and the 245s are $339. Plus shipping from distributer

I know I'm picking this thread up a little late but I didn't see anyone mention running 4 C6 fronts (18x8.5). Wouldn't it be easier to get tires? What would be the down side? How big of a tire can we fit on the 18x8.5?

I didn't realize this issue would be so troublesome. Not as though I would have decided against the car but it was a whole heck of a lot easier to get track wheels/tires for my F-Body. I ran a set of stock SS17 inch wheels and Kumho Ecsta MX tires. I was just about to step up in tires when I sold the car for the vette. Now I'm stuck trying to figure out a decent setup for a guy who goes maybe 6 - 8 HPDE days a year and doesn't want to run down my street tires. I don't need to drive to the track as I trailer the car.

TIA

Another option is C6 Z06 wheels which Hoosier has stock sizes to fit. Yes they will stick out of fender wells but will go like hell. Just saw one at the Glen (Z06) running hard and fast with the Ferrari's.
