C4 FX3 shock controller question for autocrossing
I decided to have Bilstein revalve my FX3 shocks (morrocca setting) to match my high spring rates. Do I need an aftermarket controller box and chip specifically for autocrossing to keep the performance mode on when in the low speed turns where I really want it?
When I mentioned this concern to Bilstein, they said "not true, the FX3 performance setting causes no bypass and it's a continuous full force valving based on the switch setting."
Does anyone here know for sure if the performance switch needs an override chip at the controller too?

Im baffled by the Bilstein response.
In any event, the stock FX3 shocks get bumped in stiffness at predetermined levels that are determined by vehicle speed. By revalving the shocks, you change the stiffness level at any shock range but you dont change those levels. Thats why you definetely want the controller for an autocross. I have the shock charts if your interested. I use chip A207 and recommend you put in full firm.
I recommend more rebound in the Morocco shocks. Especially if you dont adjust the rear bump steer. I have all the shock valving values if you want them. You can compare to some of the track shocks offered by Bilstein. Its on their website.

Hi,
Sorry to hijack thread...On my 1992 I also have the Morracca valving. I have a DRM shock controller and was wondering if I am suppose to use a chip with the controller for full benefit.
This valving made a huge difference.
Thanks,
Steven

- Bilstein also just gave me more info on this - they do still sell a controller and chip that forces a 75% front lock and a 100% rear lock "all the time" as an option. It makes the car very unfriendly for the street and I think that's why they originally said to go with the stock controls.

If you do lower speed cornering, with Morracca setting on, how does it turn, compared to the other 2 settings?

I do not do any lower speed (Auto X) events, only high speed time trial events at Limerock and Pocono.

Mike,
What chip would you recommend for Limerock and Pocono North course?
Also where can I purchase one?
Thank you,
Steven
QUOTE=ZR1 MK;1559063353]There are many chips, maybe 25, of choice. A207 puts you at stock in tour mode, thats why I recommended that particular one.

I got the controller and chip from LPE, but that was about 10 years ago. The only chip I like is the A207 out the whole bunch. It puts the tour setting at stock, sport at 100/80 and perf at 100/100 (front toward firm in %/rear toward firm in %). Keep in mind, Bilstein can burn any chip. A standard from the list or a custom.

need help too
The A207 sounds like what I've been wanting to do. I am ready to send my fx3 shocks in for rebuild. Car is street driven 30% and autocrossed 70% of the time. What are your suggestions for valving?
Most of our events are on small lots. Suspension is stock other than big solid bars front and rear. 1991 c-4 with 6speed running 315/35/17 front and 333/35/17 rear Kumho 710's.

Hate to sound ignorant and hijack, but will the Moracca setting be accetable on the street? I have the stockers whoch are worn and even at speed on perf it is still too mushy .
Didnt know I had to get a special chip or comtroller to use those or maybe im misunderstanding it
