Default Pfadt Racing C5 Race Car Build

We’re putting together the Pfadt Racing C5. We thought it would be interesting to hear what everyone else is doing to get ready for the season.

We’ve had the renderings for the paint scheme in the works for a few months now. Take a look…

And we just had the paint portion finished…

It goes to the vinyl shop on Monday for the rest of the graphics.

We’ve also been working on the engine specs. We’ll have an update on that later this week. For now, though, we’ve got our hands full getting the car ready…

Our basic plan for the year is to run as many NASA events as possible in the ST1 class. We’ll also compete in our local Miller Motorsports Park race series, the One Lap of America in early May, and hopefully finish off the season with the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.

As our schedule firms up, we’ll try to keep everyone updated so we can meet you at the track. Our inaugural race will likely be at Pueblo Motorsports Park on March 17 & 18. We were trying to make the March 10 & 11 Thunderhill event, but it’s just not going to happen.

Have fun getting ready!

Great, looks like yours will be done sooner tha mine...all in all Aaron, I like it more simple...nice colors but it's a little busy for my taste.

You going to be at Spring Vette Fest at end of April with that thing?

Oli,

The guy who did them is in Detroit. Murray Pfaff.

http://pfaffdesigns.com/

He does great work. He did the Optima Battery Z06s that were down at SEMA and Spring Mountain in January.

Are you planning in the NASA National Championships in September at Mid Ohio?

Planning on it! I LOVE Mid-Ohio. I ran my first ever race there when I lived back in Detroit.

I'll also be there during the One-Lap of America festivities.

You coming to Nationals? ST1 or ST2?

Jody and I are both going ST2. Easy to make the power-to-weight, cheaply and reliably.

I HOPE to be up to speed by the Nationals, but I'll be lucky to get a cage in by Summer.

Here's my artwork.....I can't afford the pros...

**btw Aaron, I'll be back in touch about the suspension as soon as I finish stage 1 (cage and safety gear)

Yea, I'm planning on being there in ST2. I'm sure David will be there, too, running ST2. From what I gather from the people I talk with, ST2 is going to be a big group because of the ease of entry. I'd expect a large crowd at Mid Ohio in September.

See you there!

NASA ST1 is pretty simple, based on a power to wieght ratio 5.5:1 all else is fair except for sequential/clutchless gearbox, or a tube frame.

Heres the rules

http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules/Super-Touring.pdf

OOOpps you are allowed the gearbox stuff they just penalize you for it....

Super Unlimited, except for power-to-weight. I plan on running the engine stock if I can get it light enough, if not, do just enough to meet the power-to-weight limit. I'm scouring Z06 parts on ebay as we speak. I also have an LS2 intake/throttle body left over from my last car.

My trans needs work, so that is yet another hurdle, but my plans are this:

1. Springs and bars, likely PFADT, possibly VBP and T1 bars
2. ACP Nose with 2" Splitter, some sort of wing, louvered hood.
3. Engine mods as needed to match weight.
4. If I ever get it fast enough, then maybe upgrade to Stoptech brakes.

I'm doing this totally for fun...I really miss being at the track. I plan on running OEM pads/rotors, maybe even tires most of this season. Just have no budget, little time, but am eager to join the hunt.

btw, I'm going with 18" wheels/tire, just in case I decide to do brakes later.

Dave:

Good to see you back in racing regardless.
