Track day tomorrow - Flush brakes after 4months or not?
Everyone, last minute I was invited to drive at the Panoz track day tomorrow at Road Atlanta, group B. The brake fluid is 4 months old (car built first week of Nov).
I’m going to have a good time. Don’t care about trying to set any track records; don’t mind getting passed by lesser cars, etc. So I’ll drive the car about 80-90%.
Car has 5k miles on it and is stock. I’ve done several track days before (01 Z06) but not with this short of notice and am pressed for time to get everything ready, basically flushing the brakes by flashlight tonight at 8pm.
How important is flushing the brakes with new fluid?
1) Do it or don’t go
2) Should do it but if I don’t drive the car at 95-100% every lap you might be ok
3) You might be ok since it is only 4 months old
4) Don’t worry you drive too slowly for it to matter any way.
Thanks

I'd go for #2. Go out and have fun, but don't go for the last nth into every corner.
OTOH, Road Atlanta is pretty hard on brakes, IIRC from reading other folk's posts. So, if you have a chance today, it wouldn't be a bad idea to do a flush.
So, I guess I could have not posted anything and helped you about as much.
Have fun!

If you dont have time to prep your car, you certainly dont have time to go to the track, if you or your family values your life.
Many guys also flush the brakes the night between the two days and some even after each session.
Bakes can heat up faster then most ppl think

80-90% of the car's potential is pretty damn fast. It doesn't take long to flush the brakes. I would do it.

If you ever see a car that loses their brakes, it's not even a question. You'll probably find them about a half mile beyond the end of the longest straight...

Thanks for all the positive repossesses.
Just finished flushing the brakes.
At lease that is one less thing I have to worry about when braking from 150mph down the back straight
