The problem with most big brake kits is that you can not use the stock 16" rims.
I did some research and bought rotors from a BMW E39 540i (2003-).
The BMW rotors are 324mm x 30mm, almost exactly the same as the Corvette C5 rotors, 325mm x 32mm.
The differance compared to the C5 rotors is that they have much more 'backspace'. The C5 rotors are almost flat.
The extra backspace makes room for Wilwood Forged Superlite 4-piston calipers in the stock 16"x9.5" rims without any spacers.
My stock rotor compared to the BMW rotor.
On the Corvette:

As you see this requires som modification of the rotor to clear the mounting bolts for the caliper pracket. ( simple to do in a lahthe )
It also requires a custom bracket to mount the caliper.

I read that there to and thought the same of spreading the word around! The only draw back on that is having to mod the rotor. Nice work and write up!

Will this work on an 1984 c4? I need to find something soon to replace my front brakes and would like something a bit better than stock that would work with 16" wheels. When its all said and done what kind of cost would it be to buy these rotors, have them machined, new calipers, and custom bracket fabbed up?

Unless you have some of the few 8.5x16 wheels that came out in 84, I don't see why it shouldn't. I'd check with the poster who did the mods.
BTW I run 16in wheels with my J55's and 13in rotors no problem.
