Default Thunderhill Corvette Only Day

Hey everyone, I was just wondering if there was anyone else on here who has signed up for the Hooked on Driving, corvette-only day at Thunderhill on 3/29/07. Thanks.

Another one signed up and set to go! Looking forward to doing another
event with all Corvettes. Did Pahrump a couple years ago and then we
had a smaller event, 30 something cars at Reno-Fernley back in '05 that
was great as well. Great event for those that have not yet gotten out
on track and for those that have more experience the track can be very
open since most are going similar speeds in the experienced groups.
HOD runs a great event. Hope we see some from a bit futher away than
normal since it will probably be the only all Corvette event planned in CA
this year, at least so far.

Yea, I'm going. I did 7 HPDEs at Thunderhill last, its definately addictive! Is anyone from the Sacramento area taking a support vehicle? If you have room for 4 tires and a jack I'll pay for the gas. Or if someone just wants to spectate, you can drive my pick-up and I'll pay for lunch.

Just got back from MSI and it sounded like a few more people were signing up. Here is the link on the NorCal forum site if you want to post your name on the list.

I might have one of my friends coming up from Folsom in a pickup, so I will let you know if he room for your tires and jack.

Default Thunderhill

The orginization for this event was started by Diablo Valley Corvettes, Pete Williams, DVC members and an instructor at TH. All of the WSCC clubs were invited during our awards dinner, needing 60cars to hold the event. I got an email the other day that said the count might make the max of 100. MSI has stepped up with sponsorship.
I will be there with 6 or 7 cars from Corvettes of Lake County.

Yes, DV got the ball rolling after Dave R. from Hooked came to a meeting
and invited folks to come up to an event and take free lunch time laps
and then hop in with instructors for some fast laps after lunch. Lots of
folks had big smiles after that tour. Should be a great mix of folks new
to the track and experienced folks giving some rides.

I'm a new C5 owner and never done any organized roadracing. How does this event compare to Thunderhill's high perfomance driving school in regards to instruction?

Regarding car prep, what improvements over stock are required? I've looked at the car inspection checklist. Does the factory battery securement satisfy the "2 bolt" requirement. Also, what about the catch container on radiator overflow?

thanks in advance from a noob

Are they going to run the track without the chicanes they add sometimes?

First, stock Vettes will pass tech. That said, from four years on track
I would suggest putting duct tape over the battery terminals, some
groups like them covered. The instructors for the TH Street School and
most of the other groups are the same crowd with a few exceptions.
The chicanes that the SCCA / TH Street School put out are the only
group to run these that I know of, everyone else runs open track.

Confirmed that the Hooked on Corvettes will run without any chicanes.
Open track, for C5 coupe that's say 120/25 and C5 Z06s maybe 10mph
faster on the front straight. I was in a student C6 Z06 and he was
doing 135 there without pushing the entry to the straight, very
conservative out of turn 15. The faster you think you will go the more
important it is to have fresh brake fluid, got mine done today!
