Default C6 Z51: Wheels for BBKs?

For the C6 Z51, what wheels will clear a Wilwood (or others) BBK with 14" rotors? Would 4-pistons calipers (front & rear) w/13" rotors be a better choice for occasional HPDEs? I don't think the OEM wheels will clear, but what about C5Z (18x10.5 w/62mm offset) wheels front & rear?

For the occational HPDE, you might be better off going with the C5 / C6 Caliper mounting brackets and the 13" NAPA rotor.
Rotors are like candy, track weekends will eat though the rotor so fast, best to use a $25-27 desposable rotor

But if you want wheels the CCW Corsair will accomidate the brakes.

The CCW Corsairs have plenty of clearance for the biggest calipers.
Front with the PFC Zr33 caliper:

Rear with a Wilwood billet Superlight SL4R (max width verssion)

13 inch NAPA $29 rotor PFC Zr33 caliper:

14 inch very used Hardbar rotor with Zr33 caliper

What offsets for the Corsair wheels? Will the C5Z (18x10.5 w/62mm offset) wheels front & rear clear the brakes? I'd like to run as wide a front tire as possible: 275/35-18, 285/35-18 or 295/35-18. I saw on the DRM website a C6 (non Z06) with a 295/30-18 tire on a Fiske wheel (too expensive for me!): that would be a terrific front tire!!!

Right now I'm liking the SSR GT7-H (from tirerack) in 18x18.5 (62 mm offset) front and 19x10.5 (62 mm offset) rear. These are lightweight C5Z wheels for $1180 shipped!

the SSRs might work but skip the 19s stick with 18s all around for tire slection and less weight

Just buy the CCW's and you wont have to guess at the offset, They have it right on. The other wheels you are looking at will not fit properly and may stick out enough to crack fenders under heavy suspension loading.

The reason for considering a 19" rear wheel is to maintain the OEM "rake." For an 18" rear wheel the rear tire will have ~1" extra clearance. Maybe that only looks bad (like an SUV), but if you lower the rear an 1", the OEM rake will be lost. There was an earlier thread on this very topic. I'm thinking that I may not want to deal with the problems associated with altering the geometry of the suspension. In fact, I'm not planning on lowering the car at all.

I've exchanged emails with John at CCW. They will give you any offset you want! The advantage of a 62mm offset at the front is that it will move the center of the wheel in, thereby reducing the amount a larger tire will "stick out." Therefore, if you'd like a wider tire in the front, say 275 to 295, the 62mm offset would mitigate "stick out."

In the rear, I'd rather have the OEM offset of 79mm, but C5Z wheels are not available in 79mm offset. Of course, I could have John build me 18x10 (or even 18x11) w/62mm offset wheels for the front, and 19x11 w/79 mm offset for the rear. But, CCW wheels will run nearly $3000. I can buy he SSRs for only $1180 shipped!

wheel diameter has nothing to do with the rake, that's tire diameter. going to an 18 would gain an inch of sidewall on the tires and lose 1" or rotating metal while opening up a lot more options for tires at less cost.

That so called extra 1" is from reading too much in the general sections.

The differnt wheel size is for apperance only, not performance and has nothing todo with AH. As long as the rear wheel is slightly larger then the front there willbe no AH issues.

The corvettes rake, if measued on the frame rails behind the jacking puck holes only needs to be 4-5 mm

The big negative of 19" wheels is the weight. That extra inch is over a pound per wheel.

Look at the weight of the SSR rims and the weights of the CCWs.

If you do look at the CCWs for tracking only the Corsair, Classics, and maybe the new 500 series fortrack use.

From the tire calculator: 295/35-18 (OD = 26.1), 295/35-19 (OD = 27.1). That's a 1" tire OD difference.

Regarding the rake issue:

looks good, lower the back
[Posted by gfactor]
Yeah the 18's are a little smaller, I may lower the car equally, I don't want to mess with the chassis rake untill I get a good idea of the handling.

And ride height changes camber, and camber changes toe, and that's on top of the chassis rake as gfactor mentioned already...

So run a wider/taller rear?

325/35r18 ~= 285/35r19

Ride height as you've quoted me above was me responding to somebody who was adjusting it with the spring bolts, not by somebody running a smaller diameter tire setup.

corrected link

a 325 and 335 tires should use a 30 profile not a 35. a 35 is too tall and will have more sidewall flex. a 315/35 could be used.
